These shutdowns are going from the 20th-30th of December but the free shuttles are only listed as running from the 27th-30th. The shuttles are listed as running between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle, and between Foggy Bottom and Federal Center SW. So, what are we so post to do from the 20th to the 27th and how are we so post to get home or to work if we live all the way in downtown largo. IDK why you guys make these schedules so complicated and impossible to understand. I can't find any information for any shuttles going past Gallery Place, even though the entire blue and silver line going all the way to downtown largo is apparently going to be shut down. I shouldn't have to rely on reddit to get actually useful information.

Shuttle services are available throughout the closure period to transport customers between all of the impacted stations. The Silver Line will run from Federal Triangle to Downtown Largo 20th-26th and from Federal Center SW to Downtown Largo from the 27th through the 30th. You can find more detailed information on all of the shuttles and travel alternatives for this closure period here: wmata.com/majorconstruction. If you need assistance planning a trip. The senior/disabled fare card dont work to add on my e-wallet. My partner is a senior and I am disabled (deaf). We tried many different ways and nothing works. Look like we MUST BRING OUR SMART CARD WITH US! which is not technology! Why cant you do that to make senior/disabled people have easy life to do with their iphone or apple watch. It is no excuse. It has been 4 yrs and still have not fix yet! Why wait tooooooooo long??

I'm from the maryland area (montgomery county) and the fare evasion incidents are so annoying that people can't pay their fares safely anymore, In Rockville Town Center there are a lot of homeless people and the people who do this are mostly teens, sometimes adults, a man at McPherson square fell off of a platform after he tried to fare jump . it doesn't make sense, i always pay my fare because i have metro access

Some jurisdiction rally around crippling WMATA funding, expecting station masters to risk their lives; riders not taking responsibility for youth jumping fare gates; and adult voters bringing mob bosses to governance as examples to model. It's not about woke or racism. It's this whole country letting our youth think it's okay to be criminal.

@bareth_23 күн бұрын
you can tell no one in the comments in from Washington, here in DC, the driver does everything. also the driver *was* following the *15 second rule* of checking to make sure the doors were being opened on the correct side.

For people who just tap and go great! 😮😮need to add to fare ? Button instructions are not next to them. You have to keep looking to back to read, not to read the tapping screen.Driver has no easy access to read and guide.

I personally am not a fan of sending half the silver line trains to New Carrollton over Largo. Mostly because so many trains will get congested in the core with trains going all over the place and I feel like that New Carrollton shouldn't need two lines going there like Largo cause unlike Largo, New Carrollton has a bunch of alternatives customers to use besides metro like amtrak, marc, etc. Ofc the original plan before phase 1 opened was to turnback at Stadium armory via the pocket track then realizing it was way too short compared to others across the system and it was extended to Largo as a result. I always thought they chose that over New Carrollton because of the lack of alternatives Largo has compared to New Carrollton.

It would be nice if buses get cleaned up more often. That would get rid of that stigma buses have. If you ride the 70/79 or X2 - you'll find most of the buses inside look absolutely disgusting. Trash all over, seats full of gunk or powder, lingering smells.

What is so difficult about existing bus routes as it is? The name of the bus is always exhibited. I've noted places that are predominantly White such as Woodly Park, Tenley and Friendship Heights come frequently but not in lower income areas. DC has the easiest transit system. Rhode Island Avenue has the D8 Washington Hospital Center bus that takes you straight to the hospital. Or you can take train to Brookland metro stop and catch any of the H4 and H2 buses or catch WHC shuttle at Brookland metro. Secondly, if a person can afford to fly and the subway isn't open earlier to accomodate that flight, grab an Uber.Wastevof tax dollars to accomodate newcomers to DC who want to reroute the whole transit system to accomodate the entitled! Cutting 500 bus stops is insane. And changing names of familiar bus routes is confusing.This is what happens when surburbanites move into the city and start throwing their weight around.There is already subway service to the airports. If it isn't broke don't break it!

Another phase of history being made from the very beginning of service dating back to DC Transit with the PCC Street Cars to the future of All Electric WMATA Buses providing service between 14th Street, 16th Street, Georgia Avenue and other locations. Though I'm not a big fan of Electric Buses, I do welcome the upcoming change that will turn the page to a new era of buses that will sustain daily service within our city.

@MetroForwardАй бұрын
The 2000 series- trains, introduced in the early 1980s, are past their useful life. Metro trains are built to last generally around 40 years or so. Reliability has decreased over the years and parts are getting harder to procure. it's great how y'all are not replacing the fare gates entirely, you're just changing the doors to make them more secure instead of replacing the base machine (which would cost a lot).
