This guy is the worst and he should be ashamed for making people take apart their vehicle when other videos make it so much easier. Completely disgusted right now sitting in the rain for this video which made a simple job take 8 hours and it still not even be done now.

I just did this job and it can be done much easier then all of the youtube videos I've seen showing you how to do it. You will need a 13mm VW carb wrench which can be bought on ebay. You don't need to remove anything accept the air box duct and lid Once thats all out of the way go under the crossover pipe with the vw wrench and get it on the bottom housing bolt, it helps to have a flat head screw driver above the crossover helping get the wrench on the bolt. Once that bolt is broke loose, your your index finder on your right arm still reached under the crossover bar and the flat head coming in from the top to back the bolt out. Go ahead and take it out and use a socket to remove the top bolt. Remove the housing and bad thermostat. Apply a thin line of silicone around the rubber gasket on the new thermostat on the side that faces in the engine and position is in there. let it cure for 24 hours. Now prior to putting the housing back on, put the bottom bolt back in barely screwed in at all, by about one thread. Remove the two bolts on the on the heat shield at the front of the engine, you dont have to remove the heat shield removing these bolts will free it up enough to get the thermostat housing past it and the thermostat and onto the bottom bolt that is barely started into the block. You may need to use the flathead to help push the shield out of the way as you work the housing on. You'll have to come in from the top and it might take a couple of tries but its doable. Be careful not to knock the thermostat loose or you'll have to re-silicone it and wait another day, it should be pretty sturdy though if the silicone cured all the way. Once you got the thermostat on the bottom bolt, go ahead and start the top bolt to keep it in place then put the bottom bolt in the same way you took it out, right hand index finger on the bottom and flathead screwdriver on the top, then tighten with carb wrench.

May I ask how you did this without getting in trouble? it's always been high on my bucket list to get to the top floor of the Boji, but I've just been too scared to attempt it, don't know what the security is like there.
@gregguikema2613

I went up almost a decade ago so the security may be different today. The elevators only go to the 21st floor - though I think there may be higher floors that is as high as I was able to get. But when I got to the 21st floor I was kind of chastised and told that many people attempt to take pictures on this floor and it was a private office space so I was not allowed up there. How then did I get the video from the window you ask? I told them why I wanted to take a picture out the window which they deemed a valid reason and to my surprise I was allowed a few seconds to take a picture and short video.

Thanks! What a pain, but the instructions helped. FYI, I had to take the bottom bolt for the thermostat housing all the way off. Otherwise, the housing would not slide off the bottom bolt while the thermostat was still in.

Simply turn the key off or in a worse case scenario disconnect the battery while the wiper is in mid position, lower the hood and remove or reinstall the wiper arm as needed to avoid all the scratching and prying.

Just got to do this today on my 04 monte carlo ss, the other day half asleep I brushed it off and hit the wiper, it was froze which I didn't know until I heard it pop up so it mucked up the tab, today it decided to park in the up position. I got it fixed, put it all back together for it to decide it would do it again, most of the time it parks just fine, once in a while it goes back up. Hoping it'll hold until its warmer out, did it in -8 degrees, what a pain in the ass. Need to fine tune my tab I'm guessing, unless it decides to behave then I'll leave it. I'm just afraid of the tab breaking off and having to go through replacing that whole assembly, praying that doesn't happen.

you dont have to remove the throttle body at all, just remove the intake, and exhaust covers, (the aluminum heat shields) and you can get to both bolts.

I haven't had that problem. You could always take the windshield wiper fuse out when it is dry but that sucks if it starts to rain. FROM A WEBSITE I GOOGLED THIS for starters. Why Windshield Wiper Blades Won’t Turn Off There is a possibility that the fuse in your car is malfunctioning. The fuse is the safety device that breaks the electric circuit if it exceeds the safe level. If your fuse blows then there will be no way to stop the electricity from reaching the windshield wipers. This will cause your wipers to constantly keep going. You will need to install a completely new fuse because there is no way to repair a blown fuse. If this does not stop your windshield wipers from going your park switch may be failing. This device is located in the wiper motor. When the park switch fails the car’s battery does not recognize that the car is off and not running. This is the reason a current is still sent to the wipers and they keep running. The replacement piece for this should cost about $80. In some cases the negative cable could have come loose at the post. You can easily tighten it and the wiper problem should be resolved. If any wires in the wiper system have become loose or have a bad connection, then your wipers will immediately react. You should examine the entire wiring system to make sure nothing is wrong.

Your problem is the wheel inside your wiper (blinker) switch. It's a no cost fix, but a little bit of a pain in the ass. you gotta tear apart your steering column, and take the base of your switch apart. It just splits in two. Kinda plugs in together. Two little screws hold it together. Very simple concept once you see it all. When it's apart, you'll see the wheels. Turn your switch to the off position, turn your car on and move the little wheel on the base of the switch ( the other piece still attached to the column that will still control your wipers) and make sure your wipers are off. Then reassemble.
