REAL RACING! No corporate sponsors, No high $$ engines, No trick of the week parts, No could ya'll put a quarter turn of wedge in the right rear. Just home built cars with a regular guy driving. You break it... you fix it. I know you're cheatin', 'cause I'm cheatin' and you're beatin' me!

2nd race car I ever drove was a '61 bubble top impala.... It had a seat made out of a small barrel with molding around the edges... Wow huh. Yellow #28. Drove it for some guy. Safety wasn't a top priority back in the day. Again, Thanks for all the videos Max!!

I'm from upstate NY. My favorite cars were the late 60's, early 70's full fendered late models (dirt and asphalt) of places like Maple Grove Raceway in Waterloo, Weedsport Speedway, Fulton Speedway, Spencer Speedway. Thanks for a lot of the pictures of cars from that era!

Lots of tracks in the mid 60s had no fence on the back straight. Oskaloosa Iowa was one such track a fast 1/2 mile running on Wed nites. Large car count you would expect and one night our car got forced off the track into fresh August corn what a mess.

It was 66/67 Wes Smith from Story City and I were partners with a 55 Mercury 427. There was a local man Stewart with a 57 Pontiac that blew up every other week We raced there whilst they were filming Felson's "Fever Heat" movie featuring this type of racing . Marvin Korns was an other local with 63 Galaxy

Did most tracks in the 50s and 60s have to run day races because they had no lights?
@ronstewart97922 күн бұрын
@@jamiecrawford8133 Yes there were not many tracks with lights. Most tracks in those days were old fair grounds horse tracks.

:58--Pat Clancy Special, Billy DeVore driving, Indy, 1948. Pat Clancy, owner of a trucking company, figured six wheels, theoretically, would give a car more grip in the corners of the 2.5-mile oval. DeVore drove the six-wheel car to 21st place in qualifying and finished 12th in the race.
