@kristannavlogs8236 Hey KristAnna, yes ma'am, I do have the exact measurements for everything *that I've built. I've learned over time that these floating bed frame videos serve as a good guide or base to start planning your own floating bed frame. We'll need to know the size of your mattress, if you have a box spring, if you want storage in the base, if you want a headboard, and if you'd like a flush build like this video or if you want a pocket build so your box spring sits inside of the frame. These are a few things to consider before I can just start spraying out dimensions for you. Reach me on Instagram curtis_made_it and we can get you all set up. I appreciate you stopping by and supporting this channel. Talk to you again soon 🤝

How many 2x6 boards are needed to be purchased to make this full size floating bed? I am going to make this bed for my son to be 7 year old. We are located in Southern Kentucky, USA
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt 6 күн бұрын
@davidsullivan1194 Hey David, this is a good question. I don't know what your hauling capacity is so it's kind of hard to give you a number. I'd make sure you have your cut list in hand and then you can figure out if you will have any cost savings by getting 12 footers instead of 8 footers. If I remember correctly though, it was 11 - 8 footers to make it happen. Two of the boards you will use the off cuts from the joists in the frame for the head and footboards of the base. Texas here. Thanks for stopping by and supporting this channel, I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions at all. Take care David, we'll talk again down the road 🤝

@@CurtisMadeIt I will be using a car trailer to haul all the wood since it’s the longest trailer we have. I will definitely have my number sheet to make sure that I have enough to make the bed. Once I am done with the bed I will send photos if it lets me do so. Thanks again for your response
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt 17 сағат бұрын
@davidsullivan1194 You bet, I'm glad to help. ...A car trailer to haul the wood might be a little overkill...I hauled the wood for this build in a 2012 Ford Fusion. However you do it, just make sure and be careful. You want all *untreated* lumber. Use your off cuts from the frame for the base whenever possible. 3 inch screws at all the junctions. 1 1/4" drywall screws to secure the 2" L shaped corner brackets to the base and the frame. You'll be done by noon, make sure the drinks are cold. I don't think you can share pictures here but I'm on instagram curtis_made_it. Feel free to reach me there any time and share your progress and/or final results. I appreciate you talking with me David.

Wondering what the measurements would be for a California king bed
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt 6 күн бұрын
@amandaspradlin9492 Hey Amanda, I'm wondering how to accurately predict the very wild volatile swings in the stock market. I'll trade you for free, straight up. 😂 Cali-king is just a little different measurements than this king size, but materials and cut list will also vary slightly based on 1)box spring 2)storage for the base 3)flush build like is shown here or a pocket build so your box spring sits down in there a little bit 4)headboard. These are some of the things to consider when you are planning a build like this. Reach me on instagram curtis_made_it and we can fine tune your design. Thanks for stopping by and talking with me, I appreciate your time and support here 🤝

@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt 7 күн бұрын
@shaiannegerken3183 Hey Shaianne, don't feel dumb for asking...the only dumb questions are the ones you *don't* ask. I've made some changes to this build to make it a whole lot easier for you guys...reach me on instagram Curtis_made_it if you'd like. Instead of the Simpson strong ties, I've switched to 2" L shaped corner brackets to secure the base to the frame. They are a whole lot easier to handle and they don't involve any thinking at all like the Simpson strong ties do. You should secure the L brackets to the base and the frame with 1 1/4" drywall screws....you are likely only going to be able to buy a pound box of these so you are gonna end up with a million extra, but that box should only set you back about six bucks or so so you should be alright. Check out the twin size floating bed frame video posted on this channel to see how to secure these L brackets if you'd like. I hope this helps. I appreciate your time and support here, thank you 🤝

If you are wanting to make storage underneath it like the king size bed frame you made, would you just widen out the frame or would it work the same?

@CurtisMadeIt 7 күн бұрын
@MadisonGough-l5y Hey Madison, just take the foot board of the base and straddle it over the top of the side and middle boards and secure it down from the top to leave the foot area open for storage...no need to widen it at all unless you are trying to accommodate for specific storage bins. If you have carpet in the bedroom you’re making the frame for, and you’re sure it doesn’t have flooring underneath or you don’t care about the floor underneath, you could fasten it through the carpet into the subfloor so it will never tip. You won’t know you ever screwed into the carpet. Hand full of pocket on the inside of the frame, and won’t cause any harm.
@CurtisMadeIt

@michaelkolkmeier7400 Hey Michael, this is actually a pretty good idea, not one that I've previously considered! I don't know of a lot of people that would want to do this, but this is definitely an idea to be considered under the right circumstances. If you've seen any of the other floating bed frame videos posted on this channel, you'll know that I build them sturdy enough that I can jump all the way around the perimeter without any issues of tipping at all. This twin size floating bed frame was one I built due to sheer number of requests. This frame is very long and narrow and it wasn't an easy task designing it to be as sturdy as it is. I hope the video helped you though and I'm glad you took the time to stop and talk with me and leave us your recommendation here. Thanks for your time and support on this channel, I mean it 🤝

@@CurtisMadeIt lol. I meant no ill will with my comment. I was merely pointing out your choice of lumber when building this bed frame and pointing out the fact its larger than what would typically be used for a frame that size. But that's no cheap shot at you, bc I would've chosen the same board size. If there was ever a word used to describe my choice for hardware or materials when constructing a personal project, it's overkill. Lol. Anyways, great video and the frame looks sound and sturdy.
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt 17 сағат бұрын
@josephstocks7495 No offense taken at all Joseph. Larger than typical...yes, I couldn't agree more. ...Go back and watch the Queen size floating bed frame. That was the original that got *all* of these floating bed frame videos going on this channel. The 2x6's seemed like the best combination to make this effectively happen the way I wanted it to(2x4's for the base wouldn't be tall enough, 2x4's for the frame and now the base has to be quite a lot wider to keep it from tipping). Of course, I couldn't have anticipated that video getting the number of views that it has, but when I was planning that first build for KZbin, I did keep in mind that whatever I was doing was going to be going out to the world and people may actually try to reproduce it so it needs to be legit sturdy, even for larger bodies. I was also considering that anyone who tries to recreate this may be doing so from a cost savings perspective so I was trying to keep it manageable in price to make this happen and I wanted to make sure that it would last. Overkill...yes. That's how we do things. It only takes getting burned a time or two before you learn to just put the little extra effort in to make sure that your time was worth spending on that project. Take care brother, we'll talk again soon 🤝

I like the headboard (minus nightstands) and want to use the base as storage too bc space is limited. Can you help with board & cut sizes for what I’ll need please?

How much does it cost to make this bed?

@DavidSanchez-oo3vl Hey David, apologies for the mishap during your build. You may just go on and attach them on there like the rest of us do. That seems to be the best way! Thanks for your support here my friend, I mean it 🤝

So if you're sitting on the edge, the bed won't lean?

Great video. I noticed @5:36 you placed bricks under the frame for support. If my yard is level, can I place the frame directly on the grass, or would I still need to place bricks under the frame?
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt Ай бұрын
@israelholi7597 Hey Israel, either way is fine, the bricks are to help it sit level. Pressure treated/ground contact lumber should give you at least 10 years before it needs to be replaced, depending on how much moisture the deck you are building is subject to. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions at all my friend. Thanks for stopping by and talking with me 🤝

Curtis, I do not want to use a box spring with the Mattress, what modification should I ADD or REMOVE?
@CurtisMadeIt
@CurtisMadeIt Ай бұрын
@michaelpelegrin8970 Hey, good morning Michael, thanks for stopping by. To support your mattress, you are either going to need plywood with holes drilled in it or cedar fence pickets spaced slightly apart. The holes or spacing allows the mattress to ‘breathe’…this issue(mattress being able to breathe) was brought up to me by a viewer and not something I had previously considered, but it does seem to make sense and feels right so this is what I recommend in the absence of a box spring. I hope this helps. You have any other questions? Thanks for your time and support here, I mean it 🤝

@MelissaHuyck-js8td Hey Melissa, good morning, thanks so much...Houston, Texas here. I don't really know how to start to reply to such high praise. You are the real hero. I accidentally became a KZbin creator in October of 2019 when I posted the queen size version of this floating bed frame. That video really took off much more so than I ever could have anticipated so I kept making videos. This king size was after I had been producing videos for quite a little while and I kind of had an idea of how I wanted to present the items I was making. I'm certain you can see the evolution of my video editing if you watch from oldest to newest. Now I'm here! I try to be quick, funny, useful, and informative in a not over produced video to get the point across quickly but effectively. No one has time these days to watch a ~15-20 minute video. We want to be able to see how to do this thing that I want to pretty quickly and be able to ask the creator questions if I need to. That's what we do here on this channel...run 100% by me. I'll be launching a website here before too long too. I can't thank you enough for your most enthusiastic support and encouragement. Thank you, thank you 🤝
