This is the first time I've heard this version and, let's just say, I'm more than impressed. Job well done there, gang. :)

Here's my vote: These great folks from earlier decades, who have still got it--and Spanky definitely does, if in different octaves--should keep on delivering, because it's not just about the voice, it's about the soul. Thanks for this, Spanky, and don't let anybody tell you to quit.

Spanky is totally unrecognizable these days. She isn't the Spanky McFarlane as she was back in the 1960's.

Spanky is totally unrecognizable in this video. She looks nothing like she did back in the '60's. She gained a lot of weight and her voice sounds very week. You can see she uses a cain because she probably has some diffuculty walking. On top of that she seems very sick.

I just found a October 1968 copy of Young Miss with them on the cover. By the way they dressed my first thought was "Who are these jokers?", but after listening to them i realize they are quite good.

I've been trying to find out why a 27 yr old handsome and charismatic Black male electric guitar genius with a lot to live for can end up exhausted and dead. Jimi was no doubt a beautiful ,shy , lovely person. Its no doubt he suffered from debilitating Depression (hence a self penned Manic Depression) I'm no doctor but i think he self medicated constantly due to the demands of the road as a journey man player and also when fame came and the urge to make $$ and play everywhere his management led him etc..He had acquired unhealthy drug habits and since he had otherworldly talent, he was able to balance his depression with superior and genius work.At some point if the intake increased with even heavier drugs and alcohol, a collision course is set. This interview seems honest and further proof that his drug dependency was at the very least escalating. If u listen to even his friends the Allen Brothers who say Jimi would take twice the amount of any normal human being, his first British gf Kathy Etchingham, saying she left him because one day a guy showed up with tons of drugs and a gun, the hangers on party lifestyle.. constant partying , lack of sleep and something had to give. Had his management not been so greedy and stopped his rigorous touring schedules, he might have cleaned up. If his friends would have cautioned him and i'm sure some did, but proud humans rarely take advice especially an addict. On the Dick Cavett show , he mentions casually that he's had three nervous breakdowns since coming to America . He mentions how exhausted he is and and he looks drained. The 1960's was also still the dark ages in knowing about the dangers of mixing pharmaceuticals and even the concept of Rehab. I'm a black male huge fan of Hendrix and i'd love to say that he died from some nefarious circumstances but the real truth is that one's defenses can only combat tons of alcohol ingestion, hard and soft drugs and pills, lack of sleep,Depression, self medication for only so long. I think it was taking its toll on his physicality but still he was young and wanted to do the relentless parties, the social and business commitments and then one day, your body surrenders; on your death bed. Even at 27,even if you are musical genius and Jimi Hendrix.kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHjJaoOKjt59aqM

Bull, Hendrix was very lucid by every other account in D,C the speed was real but Hendrix was very far from some drugged out hippie at this point in his career. He didn't say anything because Hendrix he had a uncanny ability to feel out people and its been written about so many times. All that you had to do was ask him a music question and the dude would go into depth and people were not prepared for that. This was a genius artist and not some idiot in a band. No one was even aware of what he was capable of musically in those days, and after the shows he gave there were rumours of some super guitarist that blew everyones minds. There was a very racist edge to music in Washington D.C in those days and Hendrix threatened the image of a pop musician and so people made stories up to denigrate him. That was a typical foaming at the mouth Hendrix story in those days perpetuated by people that felt threatened by his shear musical greatness and the fact he was black. Later on Jimi succumbed to heavier drug use but at the time this story was taking place Jimi was like a Olympic guitar athlete.
