That was great, and so much better without all the surplus chatter that accompanies most of these clips, which probably becomes “white noise” for the horse. A quick word of encouragement reserved for just the right moment is more effective IMO.

Having watched Roddy Stannings video and seeing the fallen horse, it looked like the horse got up, I hope everyone made it back safe and sound. Great video.

Thank you for wonderful ride across the country side. Your obviously an Event Rider, as you were smart to keep your horse balanced at the jumps and looked for the distances. Wonderful, wonderful ride. And a lovely horse, that could be a top flight Event horse.

Boy the loose horse is dangerous - can swing in front, could slam into you, could duck out, could just stop. I think this rider could use some more build up ie exercise and strength building. He has been painting since the beginning. Could do without his language, he isn’t very soothing to the horse. And that carries over to the horse. The horse is really getting tired - that’s a long run and a lot of fences. Can’t you skip a few fences to give your horse some ease - see the go bye ie no fence. Maybe not.

Fun to watch! Thanks for sharing. I was totally in the moment when you came over that jump and to the left up that hill and your horse started picking up momentum. I could feel the power as his ears and head started getting going! I hope you trust in Jesus Christ in other areas of your life too, not just when you’re in a pinch.😂

Is this Northease? We used to rent a barn and grazing from the owner. The next time I see some person saying how cruel it is to ride horses and 'force' them to jump I will refer them to this video while pointing out how many times you had to say "steady" when approaching a fence!

It all depends on the horse's dexterity and sure-footedness with the rider's decisions to go fast and steer tightly or not.

5:53 your horse is passing others up that hill. My asthma has kicked in! I used to ride cross country but low level and never that fast. Too brave for me! But great job. (Id love to hear your exercise routine to get that great lung capacity. I didnt know i had asthma then & always thought i didn't exercise properly to do my cross country at shows). Just wow!

@@andrewdahulkJust wanted to say that I agree with what you said but horses actually have thinner skin than humans and more nerve endings. Seriously. Its something many riders are learning now that it's been thoroughly tested. I was told they had thick skin too. But turns out if a whip hurts us it hurts them. I'm not saying to not use a whip, I think it's fine when riders use crops (I do sometimes too). There's healthy ways to use them for sure. I'm just telling you what the study concluded about their skin. 🙂

Horrible horsemen! Abusive just like all other animal sports. Let me guess, horses get hurt and horses are killed. Inhumane behavior. You should be ashamed of yourself and all those who support you and your actions.

The horse jumps everything in front of him but you are too fearful to ask much of him.Stop worrying about dying and kick on. You could win these bumpers. He will only get fitter if you demand more from him.

You never push yourself or your horse for more than you feel comfortable to do. Too many horses and riders get killed with cross country, steeplechasing, fox hunting (not done like the old way anymore). It’s the riders fault when these happen for not having themselves and their horses ready to go.
