i love post-referendum frankie boyle so much. he was always very much leftie in his more serious political moments, but about 10 years ago, he began his transformation into this borderline anarchist who started focusing his bile on the most deserving targets. i don't like the idea comedy MUST be "the voice of the people" or whatever other shite you want to phrase it as, but he's become such a more focused, intelligent comedian since the old mock the week days where it sometimes felt like he was just goading the panellists and crowd like a matador to a bull.

Yes that's true, it was the banks. We need to round up all those responsible and do something to them that will deter that type of wrongdoing again.

To be fair it was the banks and leftwing governments that bailed them out, i.e the Labour party. He obviously doesn't want to mention that though because the routine that gets back on the BBC is ''the toriessssssss'' any mention of Labours illegal wars or bailing out of the bankers... silent mode.

@Precise. And of course if you are talking about the atrocities forced upon native people you would be correct. But I was talking about stupidity of old Scottish people and the correlation to the collective stupidity of Americans.

the old sleight of hand from the establishment. blame it on the benefits scroungers. its the rich who cost us the most. the government gives away hundreds of billions of your money every year to the rich freeloaders. they all work together and it always got a vague euphamism. this one is called 'subsidies.' in the real world its called embezzlement.

Boyle blames the banks? Why did people across the west demand those financial services? People throughout the developed world were clamouring to pay prices that they shouldn't have been able to afford for cars, houses, etc. and they willingly pulled every immoral trick in the book to get their hands on the cash. Politicians like Blair and Brown knew what was going on but wouldn't risk their popularity by telling the truth. Everyone wanted to pretend to be wealthy and we are left with that legacy. It wasn't the banks, it was the people who are now laughing at rich boy Frankie. He's worth £3.3 million. We really need some comedians to hold a mirror up to the people and let them see that they all played a role. It isn't over. The next shock could blast our economy out of existence but what does the fearless Frankie say on the coming financial wasteland?

@@timtheenchanter265 the joke is made in reference to the Scottish independence referendum. Frankie is a very outspoken pro-independence supporter. Often stand-up comedians' jokes are about wider social and political issues.
