Wow, that was very well done. Thanks. I saw Nancy in Melbourne, Australia and boy was she great. I'm still listening, from a distance.

Thanks to all you fine FAI folks, for turning on the last-minute dime like this. That the big remote Montreal party will go on, pretty much seamlessly, but just two blocks away from the original planned venue, speaks volumes about your organizational competence and your commitment to the cause. I am frankly in awe of your collective abilities, and very grateful for all your hard work. Thank you.

great tribute to a wonderful group of musicians and singers. I was never lucky enough to see the Weavers live but I did make it to a Pete Seeger concert in the very early 60s and I will never forget that experience. Such an inspiration. He could have had that whole audience following him to anywhere he chose. All of the very missed.

I'm not much into country (not that it's not great it just doesn't touch me) and have only a couple of performers I love from the genre that crossed over to my heart. Nanci Griffith was one of those and I still love her. Hope she is singing with the angels now.

My dad always talked about the Texas Tornados. He was born in SA TX moved to California young he made sure we listened to Tejano music. One reason I moved to TX is for the music.

Thank you for this thoughtful discussion. The message that the last speaker delivered was perhaps the most timely. The whitewashing of our history is maddening, but even more poignantly- let's celebrate the contributions of Black artists now.

My late mother was a big fan of Nancy. My oldest son started guitar at the age of 6. He is studying mandlin at Julie Golds brothers shop. Takes guitar lessons with a jazz/blues musician and takes drums with the lead percussionist for Disney training him along with my youngest son. At just 11 he has played for adults, is the only guitarist in jazz band outside high school that is a guitarist and is recognized as the clear stand out. He does this with one intention. To make people happy. His brother 10 plays drums at a high level. Both love Nancy's songs, I grew up with her. It has been amazing meeting people in her scene. She will be missed.

Well here I go crying again. I put a comment on another video here in you tube. When I was 12 years old I used to sing Freight Train in my back yard in Syracuse NY. Now years and years later I was sent to her house to accompany her daughter to a doctors appointment. I was so engrossed in all the things she told me about her life that I never told her that I used to sing that song. I didn’t know at that time that it was her song.

I first saw Nanci playing a most memorable concert in the Nuremor hotel just outside the small town of Carrickmacross in Ireland for her Lone Star State of Mind tour. I loved her as a dear friend I never actually got to meet and the emotions are welling up tonight as I am looking at some old and some new to me videos here on KZbin. Nanci was and always will be a beautiful spirit that soared to great heights but never got the full appreciation she deserved.

If you want to interview someone study the guy on the left. No idea who he is but he has done his homework, he never interrupts, but he facilitated great stuff, more out of Richard than I’ve ever seen. Well done sir.

June is in the rearview mirror, and July somehow expired, and August, she kept hanging on, like a house afire… But now the leaves are turning gold and August she has left, the wind is in the trees, raindrops spot the deck… And she didn’t even say goodbye, Summer she just turned, left the lake to whitecaps, left the sky to birds…

A little surprised there was no mention of Eric Taylor, whom she was married to and collaborated with afterwards, and a first rate songwriter himself and probably served as inspiration on some songs.

I was running the channels one evening and found her singing, my wife was doing the dishes and heard her singing, came into the living room with her mouth open. It was that barefoot little girl in a yellow print dress. She was hooked, as was I.

I've never lived in Nanci's world, or even on the same side of the globe, yet it is beyond astounding to me that I'd never heard of her till after her passing. It was a random story of her death that brought me to her. Since then, I've listened to her songs many times. She really was quite a girl. May she Rest in Peace.

Nice message ladies unfortunately there are too many brainwashed into the zenophobic mentality and war culture and this is the cause of so much misery in the World. Look at the disgusting suffering in places such as Gaza, Ukraine, Syria etc. etc. ..... As a male, I am ashamed to say that this is mainly due to a flaw in the male psyche. Too many are ruled by machismo and aggresive behaviour. The Cave Man mentality. This is especially seen in nations which have laws which encourage possession of firearms. Murder and crime are commonplace in such places. Until the human species wises up, the World will never be a harmonious place to live in and ,unfortunately, it is often women and children who suffer the most. Life is short and we need more love and less conflict. Heroes are those who nurture life and NOT THOSE THAT DESTROY IT.

My wife and I saw here in concert in Lubbock many years ago and she talked and talked and talked and talked. We left after about 40 minutes as all she did was talk and we thought the $64 she charged was a total waste of money. Not a fan at all of this woman. Just my opinion and I am aware that friends of mine also had the same problem.
