I'm giving this build a try, and so far it's running short of bioplastic; everything "upstream" of it consumes all the bioflux. Will this situation eventually stabilize as production goes on?

@@FelixYyz that's weird, everything should balance fine I've tested several times. Are the bioflux machines running non stop or are they running out of something?

That isn't really a general purpose cutter that can give you each half of an arbitrary shape. It only works properly with shapes which have the same in every corner. If you try to use it on an unsymmetrical shape you will get alternating bits on each belt. Because you rotated two things that aren't the same to go on the same belt..

some questions: why did you not consider foundries for copper, steel, and iron? you have calcite and ores, and nuclear power? this opens the door to extremely easy red ammo, which decreases resource demands even more, and shouldnt be too complex to set up. also, do you ever think walls would be a legitimate defense strat for space ships? how many walls does it take to punch through a meteor? is there a way to actually purposedfully design for some impact, with buffered walls in the main?
@DataEngineerPlays3 күн бұрын
@DavidSmith-cr7mb this is mostly a starter ship. In my lets play eventually my final ship does use foundries to produce everything and adds rockets and railguns to the arsenal

some comments here cast your methods as suboptimal... just remember the goal is to make the giant slab of metal fly!!! lol. buffering asteroids in collectors I think is smart because it can always make sure you have a stock of ALL asteroids ready, it I think is more useful lategame though when youre trying to squeeze every asteroid into resources via reprocessing and rebalancing, like oil cracking. I think for haulers with automation in mind, buffering asteroids, especially your ice if you have a nuclear reactor or two running on board, is beyond smart to do, because Im OCD and have had many brownouts in mindustry before I ever touched factorio, lol... I dont mess with power, and ice asteroid scarcity= NO POWAH

Hi, One cool trick to avoid going to blueprint menu is to sample the blueprint like any other block. Go to delete with F and in blueprint mode, and then use middle mouse button to copy, it will sample the blueprint just like any other block.

You can use G to filter what you're painting (same as with deletion) that way you only paint "4m half foundations" or only "quarter pipes" for example

You can put rails on top of road barriers. I have all my roads lined with that. Looks pretty nice You can also slightly overlap signs if you ever want to get rid of the line between each one. Makes it look more like one continuous strip of light when you're making LED strips

Hey! I've been enjoying your series so far, but there's a big problem with your train buffers! I haven't watched the two most recent episodes, so you may have fixed it already, but: 1. You need a buffer at both the loading AND the unloading stations, as both will stop while the train is in the station. 2. The link between the buffer and the station has to be HIGHER than 1200, or it will never catch up after each pause! You can link two belts from the buffer to the station, at either tier 5 or 6, to get the products flowing freely.
@DataEngineerPlays6 күн бұрын
@@arrestingdevelopments1764 thanks! Yes I start correcting this in episode 7. Makes a lot of sense!
@brokedude99996 күн бұрын
@1:09:00 You've got the right idea for a Buffer at the stations, to offset the loading animation. Unfortunately, You"ve only got 1 belt going in & coming out of the Buffer. (And You're at Max Belt speed) You need to add an extra belt between the Buffer & the Station. Meanwhile 1 belt from the Miner to the Buffer. The animation will pause the flow, and build up on the Buffer. With only 1x belt unloading the Buffer, Your essentially stuck with the same problem. You need to drain the Buffer faster than it is being stocked by the miner, to restore the 1,200/pm rate. So, 2 belts out, 1 belt in. (For Miner side input to the system) (For Factory side output of the system) Invert the setup. 2 belts out of the Station, into the Buffer, 1 belt out of the Buffer, into the Factory. Remember the Station Docking animation is what's pausing through put lag. You buffer/belt arrangement is there to compensate for the 20-30 second pause. So, loading gets paused, and then You want to rush to fill the station faster to make up for the loss. So, when unloading is paused, You wanna empty the station fast into a reserve to ensure the Flow is uninterrupted on the Factory.

To get a declining ramp Blueprint to snap to another lateral blueprint- 1st attach a wall segment to the end of the lateral segment, and Zoop down 3 sections of the wall. This will give You something to anchor the Declining Ramp Blueprint to. Just aim at the wall segments to get it close enough to nudge. When the ramp is in, go underneath and delete the 3x wall segments. What Darren Plays does this with His Road Blueprints

Another method for dealing with water issues is to let the machines fully fill up with liquid before you introduce solids into the system. Mitigates a lot of issues as long as you have enough liquid input coming in to feed the machines
