They had one of those in Melbourne Australia in the Holmesglsen TAFE Chadstone campus in building 5 which was installed in 1995 when the building was built but it believe if had Otis’s branding on it so it was possibly installed by Otis as a kit from Schindler because of Schindler not having much of a presence in Australia yet at the time or it’s just being currently maintained by Otis.

Love this vidio. I use to work for a Transit Co. We had old Look and New Look Busses . No power steering.... Just a little tip. Push & Pull the wheel when making turns. Not hand over hand. That's the way the Ole time's told me much better. Try it builds up your arm's.... Not being a back seat driver. Thank You!

Nice to see a video of these from 2011, such a throwback. I still remember the old 80’s station signage (which has since been replaced), used to ride these elevators when I was little since I lived nearby at the time. Those mark 1 trains are such a classic, and so iconic. Especially those motor sounds. Sadly the mark 1s are going to be retired soon.

Looks like those elevators just had a very light modernisation in the late 1990s/early 2000s which involved cabs being renovated with new ceilings but the floors and walls were seemingly kept original while other than that only the interior button panel was replaced with an Otis 2000 one. However everything else including the LED digit indicators seem original. Probably the fact that those elevators are extremely well built and heavy duty while having all the standard modern elevator features with microcontrollers is why they were never replaced or heavily modernised and they are also a lot more reliable and easier to maintain compared to many modern elevators.

Im scared of old elevators. Because they tend to break down or get stuck. I like new better. They do not get stuck that often. Old is told that it's not so gold

Health and safety ? non existant in that part of the world. You can complain your back aches and get a shiney new office chair here in the UK. But people are wearing lungi's and flip flops whilst breaking ships in Bangladesh. It ceazes to amaze me how the cockpit of this plane has paint flaking off and everything looks so old school.
