It's 100% original even down to the airbox and standard exhaust.

Cheers, they're lovely bikes honestly but yes the headlight fairings are hard to find in good condition (I've repaired mine). The colour scheme on this is a good choice, when I first got the bike (11 years back) I wasn't too fussed but really like it now as its very 80s. Good luck with your resto 👍

@@leonevans7987 Wow youve had it 11 years? Have you done much work on it? it looks in pretty good condition for its age. To be honest Yamahas build quality from these years was pretty bad (the engineering was first rate) alloy fur's up paint flakes off etc. I noticed this compared to my 86 GSX-R 1100 that i semi restored in 2019. My FZR is a very early build number, frame & engine No's 000172, as the numbers start at 000101 this makes my one the 71st one off the production line. As bikes get older they get cheaper and so sometimes get owners that don't take care of them, that certainly seems the case with mine. Its got evidence of at least one good slide down the road, the rad was shaped like a parallelogram! and when i popped the sump off i found a few bits of gravel! But so far the engine seems in remarkable condition, cams, bores, pistons are all well within spec. Havent got the crank and gear cluster out yet, but i'm hoping they are in as good condition. @@uhtred7860 yeah, I bought the bike before passing my test but have only just managed to take my test Oct last year. The bike was stored in a (very) damp garage so most things had to be unseized/rebuilt.

@@leonevans7987 what year is your's ?, mine's a 90 3lg, i paid £400 for it from a mate pmsl, it was rough but had only been off road for 2yrs, its a gen/exup but has no exup valve, has 1 piece lower faring "fibreglass" , it was really hard to get it from under the bike so i cut it in half, had to re-gel coat a lot of cracks in it lol, the front discs were a bit thin so now it has brembo discs from an aprilia, like brand new, got the pair for 80 quid :), still restoring it and im hoping to get it finnished this year, but i have to fix my smokin joe's cbr400rr nc23 first as ive just killed my cbr1000f so im off the road atm, little joe just needs the valves re-shimming, where as the 1000f needs a front end now :(, im 54 and i think i should slow down a bit lol

Currently 330bhp, it's been re-built from the ground up with Garrett GT28, will be more BHP next year. I did however get 192BHP from the X20XEV BEFORE adding a turbo, that was on a standard bottom end.

Only just noticed this..... only a year late :) It's a Frankenstein build I've done, was rolling roaded at 330bhp back when I was running 18psi boost (now running 25psi).

All glow plugs were burnt out at this point. They had swollen and took some removing!

Leon Evans, ooh....that's a nasty job when they're stuck. Must say though, I don't think I ever replaced any. They were really bombproof engines...

cliffjockey yep, this ones still going strong 219k miles with fuel and boost cranked up. It was an issue with the glow plug control ecu, tried relays but in the end made my own glow plug unit via live to busbar, relay and pushbutton as I couldn't get hold of replacement... Works well.
