I'm a nissan fanboy who especially loves an R32, but that FD is GORGEOUS. and I got into cars as a kid in the early 90s but it was all classic muscle cars. it took Initial D to turn me into a JDM lover and an S14 owner.

I’m 20 and man, am I sad I missed out on a whole 3 generations of cars that I’ve grew up to fell in love with. Me and my mate constantly debate over the new M3/ porche / newer comfortable cars vs the old school monsters and I’m sorry ale pal but I’m taking any old school hot hatch over an M140I IDK if it’s brand new 😂

Yeah, but that’s down to the “mods” the owner has made here. Standard Fiesta turbos don’t look too bad.

There's a lot of cheesy opinions from these owners, because everyone has the most nostalgia for the era they grew up in, and every generation will say that the cars of their youth were better, more connected, simpler etc. Personally I love 80's cars because manufacturers were adding turbos to everything so they were raw, crude and full of character. I love 90's cars because It's the peak of engineering before electronics completely took over, but they are reliable and still very approachable by the home mechanic. Modern hot hatches are too dull because you just point and squirt and let the traction control, automatic gearbox, and variable everything do it for you.

The rover 2.0L tomcat turbo coupe was an unbelievable 90’s car

I remember learning of the bhp figures of the Tomcat’s and being amazed. I think those being considered you have to respect the bhp, reliability and economy that modern manufacturers can squeeze out of four cylinder engines these days, it makes me wonder what they could achieve without emission and economy restrictions.

@@jaysimpson6857 I have the tomcat turbo in gun metal grey with only 34k on the clock on an N reg. The car is running slight mods on 225bhp the weight to bhp ratio is superb though, I’ve left many a modern car for dust, only really got shown up once and that was a baby blue 20v fiat coupe turbo, I followed the car though and bought it 👍

The Delorean was a car that begged its owners to put a better engine in it. The disappointment and controversy that surrounded the Delorean from 1980-1983 has now passed and the car has been claimed by another generation of fans, who have improved the vehicle significantly.

Brilliant 😊 the gentleman with the lotus basically summed it up very well-----yes cars have grown quicker bigger and probably more efficient but since about 2010 to 12 cars seem to be less charamastic-----wonder if turbochargers were partially responsible----?.

I had the good fortune to work for the Rootes Group in the mid 1960's in the engineering department/design/styling/experimental department! I had a fair bit to do with the IMP at that time Spending many hours on the Belgian Pav'e at MIRA. testing different suspension setups and tyre combinations as well as the body structure! I also had my design for the uprated dash in the MK3 IMP reach production!

It’s a different world to what it was back in the 90’s. Todays times are squashed with many distractions and how the social Media is. Perhaps we will eventually live off grid without the hectic work loads of modern society.

Nicely done👍 very nostalgic. Loved my calibra I bought in 96, still got it. What the guy said about driving then & now is absolutely spot on, it’s oppressive. We’re surrounded by devices & authorities just itching to give us 3 points & or a fine for the smallest of infractions. I hate driving now.

Definitely agree the 90s was so much better for cars and driving not many people could get loans or finance so people generally owned cars outright , the old weston super mare was a massive local cruising venue. Many cars used to congregate in the car parks and cruise the seafront .
