Roberts was the best ever. Agostini, Rossi, Marquez, etc. never had to come from 10th to 15th on EVERY start to win 3 championships in a row. Roberts diminutive stature made it where he couldn't really start well with the push start. If Roberts raced with a running start he would have won several more championships. No doubt.

"F****n" hell!!!?. "No worries Barry, why don't you tell us what you really think?!" Why would any man with talents like Bazza, with half a brain, want to work at a sniveling shit job that was demeaning, under paid, and similar to an emotional vampire, when he could be racing bikes...as Gordon Ramsay would say..."Fuck me?!!!' And Bazza got a lot of his skills riding trials. The Tai Chi of racing!!! Kenny Roberts couldn't have been more of a gentleman, in the way he spoke. Outstanding! And, thankfully, Barry didn't live a dull, grey, sniveling shit life!!! Thanks for the memories, Barry. Me, like many, many others are very grateful for your larger than life contribution, to have done what we would have liked to do!!!

Growing up in America, we didn't really get to see all the FIM GP's on TV. I had to rely on magazines like Cycle News, American Roadracing, etc. Another publication, Motocourse, hard copy publication , the aftermath of the season, I would read about these races. 40 years later, I get to watch these races, very special for me, thank you for this.

Same here in the UK,we got occasional races like this but they were never advertised

USA was completely dominant for a decade. I wonder what reasons they had for not publicising such a great sporting time for your country.
@davidhong9112Ай бұрын
@@demonmonsterdave in order to answer that question, I feel that I am not qualified to answer that, we should get assessment from the media during that era. My first response, I deleted because it was too long. Yes, I've always wondered why we didn't get much coverage on this. I've only watched the 89 race in Germany and France. As for the US races, I was actually at the 88, 89, and 93 and 94 grand prix as well as 2008, at Laguna Seca in California. If anyone who worked in the media during that era, please chime in.

hehe, modern bikes are incredible. 79 just wasn't that far back really and Murray Walker is talking about what heroes these guys are because they have 125hp LOL. Now I do get back in the day the tires were nothing like as good as they are now but you can buy street bikes with 150hp all day long without getting into the big bad daddies of the street. Mannnnnnnn how times have moved on. These boys could ride and without all the noob saving devices of modern bikes too. Proper legends.
