My thought on creating this video was thinking about the possibility we couldn’t get pellets… Could they be made? The pellets we can get commercially are superior and probably more accurate, but I love the idea that I can make pallets if needed.

@windridgecabinets 3 жыл бұрын
I believe the one featured in the video is the LT204... I use a lot of these mounts on many different rifles. That said what you want to look at is which side the levers are on, to make sure they’re out of the way. Also look at how far forward it mounts to make sure that you have the eye relief you need for whatever scope you’re using. The last thing you look for is how many MOA is built in if you’re looking to build a long range gun where you’re going to use come ups on your scope in my opinion the more MOA the better. Hope this helps happy shooting to you!!

Can't make an intelligent decision if you don't know what the Prices are for the Press , Tool Plates ect.. Seems most Progressive loaders spin the case plate with the lever stroke .. A Very popular channel I think it's Gavintube .. takes 10 minutes to get a press out of the box then he wastes 45 minutes showing you how to set it up.. Never talkes prices or features or benefits or disatvantages over other brands and models .. So far all I have found on the Tube is one Giant Cluster mess.. So I started reading some articles.. seems the Hornaday Lock and Load Progressive Press turns up #1 it has a quick way to change the dies and not loose your adjustment .. but I don't even know if you have to buy more bushings for each die.. I am pretty sure you have to buy more bushings I don't think they cost very much but late December 2020 .. seems almost all relaoding presses are on back order..
@windridgecabinets

I didn't list any pricing as these things can change over time. I have reloaded on a lot of different presses over the years, in my opinion Dillon is the best of the best. I guess I just wanted to share what I have learned, and perhaps save some people some money over the long run. It is my opinion that if you are going to jump into reloading, and its something you see yourself really getting into then you might as well do right in the very beginning. If you have any questions that I can help you with please feel free to reach out! I love feed back and will help in any way I can. Current pricing for Dillon products can be found at www.dillonprecision.com I do not work for Dillon nor am I affiliated with Dillon in any way I'm just a huge fan!

@@windridgecabinets Here is the Problem so many different Models.. At first I though the Basic Lee Press is so cheap I would get one in at least 2 different dies and just leave them set up .. I see Dillion for $1,800 and for $2,500. Can't get excited about something that costs $2,500.00 Same deal with the Hornaday .. I saw it for $1,800.00 do more research and it turndes out it comes with Brass Feed and Bullet feed that's like $500 and $400 extra.. Looks like you can purchase the Horniday Lock & Load.. every model they sell even single stage presses are Lock and Load.. So them you have to figure out all of the differeent models some are just single stage.. Looks like the Horaniday Model that suits me is a the Loack & Load AB model .. Now Dillion has like 500 650 750 1050 ect .. I have not even began to figure out the feature differances.. Now If I look at Midway USA I can't even find a price.. The don't list a price on producsts that are on back order.. I was picking up my 9mm cases at an indoor gun range.. had to do my certificaiton for aCPL ... An Emplyee was making fun of me for picking up 9mm Brass.. he said 9 mm is so cheap it's not practical to relaod it .. Now today looks like they are trying to sell 9mm for $1.00 per round.. But I can't reaload if I can buy Primers or Bullets.. 40 years ago I realoaded shot gun shells I still have some Primers wads and shot Lead costs at least 4 times more now .. I did purchase a Lee Single stage press 30 years ago to relead 357 Mag.. I may still have 200 primers and I have 500 lead bullets.. and I used Shot Gun Pownder I already had.. I looked in the load book and they had a chart for Unique Gun Power . It's a rather dirty powder when you already have 4 pounds of it you are in good shape.. Then I watched Hickock45 talkin g about the AR 15 and how the first ones gumed up and fouled out.. Turns out the Government used flake powder because they had tons of it in Suprplus .. Engineers desinged it to use Ball Powder.. then I ended up googling that and found a thread where people were telling about the differances..

@@windridgecabinets Reviewers should always just tell the Liost Price.. I can see what year the video was downloaded.. The problem is they are always comparing apples to oranges.. loooks to me like the bullet feed and brass feed just about double the price.. For me to relaod a rather low volume of ammon ... but .223 .. a few 30-06 .. 357 mag / 38 cal and 9 mm.. Looks to me like the Hornaday is way easier and cheaper for me to set up for 4 Caliburs relatily low volume.. I really can't justify the Bullet feed and brass feed. Next question is how much brass do I have.. because I need to prep it forst .. then if you have to lube it that a slow process and have to wipe all the cases off when you finish .. When I lookfor dies have a hard time to verify they are carbied and sitll if you have to use lube or should use lube for longer brass life.. Also you have to un crimp the primer pockets if you are using military brass.. Looks like on the Dillion you will have Big money into extra die and power measure holding heads.. Looks like with Hormiday you may have to buy 3 extra bushings per die set at a cost of like $15.00 for a set of three.. Then it's hard to figure out how maning casing holder plates you need for those different cartridge sizes..

Bullet jump is not called “runout”. Runout is the concentricity of the projectile or neck to the centerline of the cartridge, measured in thousandths of an inch. Basically if the bullet is seated crooked or not. The distance from the ogive of the bullet to the lands of the rifle is called bullet jump.

They usually quote 5 minutes to fill a primer tube. So 5x5 is 25 minutes. So you are doing about 500 per hour. Not sure you could go faster. That is 300 less than the marketed output of 800. That is a significant discrepancy. Thanks for doing this video.

Hey sorry just saw your comment and wanted to reply so this scope is an Athlon Talos 4-14x44 It’s a great little scope it’s also got some nice drop compensation built in. I ended up getting this from Utah airguns in Orem Utah the thing that’s nice about a scope built for airguns you can get a lot better quality scope for a lot less money because they’re not built needing to withstand the recoil of a bigger rifle. Anyway any other questions please let me know glad to help!!

I reload this, but using a single stage press. Using universal decap die remove primer, to Clean, 10% simple green, 1/2 teaspoon of dawn in luke warm water, hand tumble for 30sec, soak for about 15-20min, rinse thoroughly, then towel tumble, then air dry (they are not shiny, but mostly clean, primer pocket may still have junk), swag if first time reloading them and check primer pocket for no go or go gauge. Using a single stage press and imperial wax for sizing, then run same cleaning process as above. Trim the brass, which is the part I have the difficulty in constancy. Then prime each round, weigh each powder charge as you would in a precision load. Then seat the projectile to specs. Yes is time consuming, but it's what I do.

Is your barrel 500mm...may I ask? I am thinking of making my FX impact into a compact version. Currently my barrel is 600mm (standard).

Mine is the 600 mm in .25 cal i’m not positive but I think the 500 mm is only available in the .177 if they do have it available that would be awesome super short, super compact! Let me know what you end up doing😁

I’m getting into reloading. Was planning going straight into a Dillon 650. Everyone telling me don’t. But I know I’m not an idiot to do progressive. I know I’ll need a single stage just in the side for sure. What’s your recommendations in reloading presses and what I need and don’t need

I use a Dillon 550 B and Dillon 650, as far as what press would be good for you... What kind of loading do you do? Specifically what calibers would you be reloading? I use both those presses for different things. The 650 I mainly do 223 and 9mm, I really like the 550 for rifle stuff because I can use it as Sort of a single stage press, that way I can trickle my own pounder for accuracy. Let me know what king of reloading you plan on and I’ll help you select the right stuff! But for sure Dillon is the right way to go!
