the reason there are so many bugs is that fact that TMNF isn't and was never Nadeo's main project. The whole point of TMNF was to give new players a small taste of what Trackmania2 was like, so they would have fun in TMNF then transition to Trackmania2. TMNF was and is considered a complete and finished game by Nadeo, so they will never update it again

Sadly I was never into TM until recently. It amazes me how similar Nadeo is to the TM community and Valve is to the CS community. Both are really out of touch with the competitive part of the community and it seems they actively push players away with decisions and lack of communication/info 🤦‍♂🤣

TM has gotten better in the last 2 years and is the best its ever been with two major games still being competitive and bugs being rare unless you want them to happen the competitive scene is also improved and very exciting.

somehow the sourcecode for this game shoudl be released so pple can build clones with different concepts. I was into gamedevelopment for a while and i did alot of research around determenistic physics based vehicle mechanics such as in trackmania, but there is not alot of assets, examples with such programming. Most of the content available is related to realistic physics in vehicles and it is much easier to make s realistic racing game. You can come close to the physics in trackmania, but it has alot of stuff going on.

The criticism at the end is so real especially because I'm a perfect example of it, I've been watching Trackmania content religiously for around a year and a half right now, and I've never played the game, or even wanted to, why? Because the game is FULL of bugs, bugs that you need to learn if you want to be competitive in the game, there's just no way I can catch up in knowledge with old players, Bugslide, speedslides, ice wiggles, bla bla bla, I'm sorry learning all of this would take years, compare this to a game like I don't know Valorant which is an emerging E-sport right now, a game where you can literally become the best in the span of a few months(If your willing to be the best of course), and I know the bugs make the game more fun, shit it's fun as fuck to watch this game, but starting in this game just looks like a chore

Maybe when TM is more realistic game. Tried tm2020 couple of days in console and car didn't felt good at all, not nearly as good as tm turbo with controller. Is it entirerely made for keyboard? E-sport racing with keyboard do not sound very realistic. Those much more realistic sim racing games are better for e-sport.

2 years later and we still have terrible communication, confusing for new players on the subscription model, and a lack of access to tmgl for casuals. You shouldnt have to search for a club to find official competitive maps, they should be front and center. You should also be able to choose to que these maps in ranked, not just hope you get lucky (or unlucky). To imagine a games prime competitive esport has bigger viewing numbers on streamers channels and not the official broadcast. Its like a child is running this circus.

All trackmania games are in a zombie state... not quite dead, yet definitely not as alive as they could be.

TL:DR The reason Trackmania doesen't have a thriving esport competitive community is: Because NADEO is not a king, but a tyrant. Only caring for profit, and disregarding the community and sometimes outright threatning them if they do not agree to his wishes.

Sim racing is still going up a lot. F1 Esports, iRacing Nascar/Porsche Cup/Rallycross are like the only majors out there. F1 Esports can get up to 50k live viewers with it's races. I do love Trackmania though. Been part of it since 2016 in the esports side doing FS comps and previously running a team in 2020 called Tauro with players such as Raceta, Mime and Erizel. I myself quit TM to chase my esports dream in sim racing, since TM just never offered that full time role. Same happened with the team as TMGL has some limits. I would love to see TM get to the top of esports racing. Such a fantastic game and community

ok good to know that nadeo never knew how to run their game and are not simple screw many things up today. The game had crazy momentum and they seem to do nothing with it. like things that don't even require programmers, but cooperation with the community. How to create well thought out tutorials for knew players and some form of training system that is better than 25 uninteresting tracks that don't even include all available surfaces anymore. I don't say this often about an online community, but damn compared to others trackmania is a great online community and most likely the fact that players play in clubs that are behind a pay wall and are moderated is a big reason for that. probably one of the best things they did. Oooh you don't take action to ban toxic players. well your players will do it for you. also the amount of people that are here for just being competitive and just want to get on the game is absurd. It is like watching martial artists or scientists. Studying practice and effort seems to be the only way to play the game and the lack of the ability of another player to screw you over through game play mechanics makes everyone know and act on their mistakes. It is a great displeasure to see not everyone talking about trackmania like we do about cs go and lol. hell compared to lol in each current state of difficulty the game seems impossible for new players with a normal life to pick it up. you know adults. It is really sad. I am 100% sure that trackmania is the first game I downloaded on steam when I got bored of lol and wow and I wanted a racing game like when I was even younger. The game is so captivating and even though I didn't stick with it because of the lack of in game tutorials, people like wirtual made me fall in love. The fact that we had so many passionate people helping each other, it made me feel like I was in stack overflow, for better and worse. tldr great community that struggles to keep the game alive despite of the efforts of the developers...

That’s a really good video, very informative… I’m still confused how ubisoft has not stepped into nadeo to make the game more popular/more stable, it’s like they acquired the company and that’s it… I’m not sure if nadeo is actually delivering results or if ubi’s expectations were so low for the game that they are just happy with the current state…
