Most of these crystals are lower quality. The best crystals are handled with gloves. When a crystal is already damaged or dull, it will be put in a basket in our store and people who are looking for an affordable crystal come to our store.

Of course it's ethical to mine stalagmites, and any other stone. Last time I checked, stones don't have rights. As long as you're not taking it from someone's private land, it's absolutely OK.

whether or not its ethical i think depends on how fast or slowly these are being depleted and how many there are on earth. For instance every rock you see probably took thousands or millions of years to be created (but maybe im wrong lol 🥸) and wont be replaced any time soon but its fine to crush rocks bc well. for the most part they’re everywhere. Now that obviously isnt true for every rock, mineral, metal, etc but that’s my point. Things that can realistically be used up before they’re replaced or a suitable substitute can be engineered by humanity, should be regulated. If the stalagmite miners are a niche industry that barely makes a dent in how many stalagmites there are in a region, (like lets say itd realistically take 1000 years to deplete a region at current rates) i think its fine but if we could run out quicker than that it should be regulated.
@Rockshop.Harties5 ай бұрын
@@noThankyou-g5c thanks for your response. My point was that caves should be protected by the state and not exploited.
@kmo97905 ай бұрын
I think in general taking material like this for any kind of profitable work has inherent risk. Internet virality can easily make items like these must haves for the 10 mil net worth plus crowd. That could lead to ecological disaster, like villages falling into sink holes and whole lakes draining away disasters. I think the best way is the regulate by law how much can be harvested from caves per year. This give two benefits. First, it would prevent 'gold rush' type of harvesting. Second, it would ensure that artists in the future have access to these materials in the future to make art with so that they can make things that speak to them. I have often wondered what modern artist could do with the flawless marble that used to exist in Michelangelo's day.
@Rockshop.Harties5 ай бұрын
Some of these large cases are thousands of $. This preserves the source to a degree. I am just against peole taking out stalagmites from caves and destroying the beauty of the cave.
@vivekpratapsingh61335 ай бұрын
I mean we have mine 3 to 4 kilometer inside the earth , stalactite mining is a very small compare to the harm we are doing by intense mining , They are just artists doing art in a block to earn their bread , so I think it's ethical..!!
@Rockshop.Harties5 ай бұрын
Hi Vivek, thanks for your comment mate, I am just sparking conversation here. I just hate it when people deliberately break stalachtites in caves that are open to the public and take these home as momentos. It grows back very slowly.

its interesting how most normal people work just to provide a life for themselves and their families, unfortunately our governments keep screwing everything up creating the chaos and war, most people on the planet would be happy to share a beer with anyone on the planet and we would have a great time.
@Rockshop.Harties5 ай бұрын
I have traveled into remote parts of Africa mining minerals and can't agree with you more. Most of us just want to live and carry on living peacefully. When you sit down with someone after a days work around a fire and chat about the days work you truly experience life. But governments take our money and waste it controlling us. Remember that today is a gift and we can be the architects of our own destiny. Be blessed
