Elisabeth's death was an accident. Of course he should have told Catherine, but I don't think there's an innocent character in the show (I only know the clips). Catherine changes from being a naive young woman to ...well....the person's she was known as in history books later. Interesting, entertaining somehow, but no fairytale. Life was and is cruel. People are cruel. Either because they're selfish, taught to be cruel or acting for the 'greater good'. Our human nature isn't good. We're all imperfect from the beginning of our life.

The show deliberately points out it is anti-historical, its tagline in every intro is 'an occasionally true story', it is not meant to be taken as truth.

Gosh, there must be a special place in hell for such "friends"! I hate it! While you're sharing your soul with them, putting your complete trust in them, they are secretly jealous and resentful, seeking ways to peg you down and hiding behind passive-aggressive nonchalance.

Did he just say “rollercoaster” in a historical drama ☠️🤣
@veronicav575Ай бұрын
1) this is not a historical drama 2) the prototype of the modern roller coaster was built for Catherine the great (loosely portrayed in this series) in 1784.

@@veronicav575 A historical drama is a dramatic work set in a past time period, usually used in the context of film and television, which presents historical events and characters with varying degrees of fictional elements such as creative dialogue or fictional scenes… pretty sure that’s the exact definition of this show… but what do I know, didn’t know that about rollercoasters ☺️ looks like we all learned today!

@@mrw2409it's a historical drama, yes, but not historically accurate in almost every way. The rollercoaster part is accurate though

I know this is 2 years old and the show is apparently cancelled but I cant believe people are complaining about the accuracy of it when its so obvious its not supposed to be. Do people really think any of the monarchs actually took care of their offspring? Sometimes they werent "allowed" too. Also, doubt they had baby carriers then like that to be strapped to a man considering most men probably didnt even realize babies exsisted unless they were in the same room with them to remind them. lol

Bizarre...great acting, but bizarre and disturbing story. If this is what entertainment has become, well, perhaps all the dire predictions of the bone stupid fundamentalists I grew up around have come true😕

Ok... I am unfamiliar with this show, aside from seeing this clip and one other (where Catherine meets the Sultan in the woods, gets her hand stabbed and then stabs the Sultan in the neck), so, would someone please explain to me the supposed logic behind this show. The acting appears very good, but the plots, well, is this revisionist history (like what gave the world a black Anne Boleyn and black aristocrats in "Bridgerton"?) or what? It is recorded that Catherine and Peter, who was crazy, hated each other, so what gives? If this is an intentional skewing of history, that's one thing, but if it is " creative" filmmaking, well, "Capote and the Swans" has shown what a cesspool that leads to...

The way she said it sounded like Peter forced himself upon her mother and killed her in a brutal way. Anyone would be traumatised to hear that about someone they love. Cruel.

What glorious times to choose Russian history as a platform to portray the story of this magnificent murdering couple while Russia itself continues to wage war in Ukraine. It is so weird how people are fascinated with that, not even to mention that kathrine the great(purposely typed it this way) took part in the destruction of Ukraine herself.
