A couple of years ago Erum used alcohol markers on a poinsettia embossing folder and it turned out great. So I got the idea from her.

I believe the pine cone part is called a seed scale. Love this video. I have the embossing folder, so I'm going to try this. Love the tip on coloring the sentiment.

I forget to use my embossing folders, so this was a really good reminder for me. I know very little about using them, so I also shy away from them (even though I probably have 100). This natural folder is so pretty. I LOVE the pine branches and cones. It was a good thing that you mentioned no white core in the brown...I have used a white cored card stock before, and it shows...What a pretty card you made.
