Do we have to connect the COM with rigid links? For the modal I want the stiffness to be added by the surrounding steel braced frame and the mass by the stored equipment kit. Thank you.

Is it possible to make the diagram lines denser by dividing the bar in more sections like in a Mesh? Also can you set the view in order to see the coordinates of nodes or moment values of different points by just hovering the mouse over?
@nunoteixeira-robotstructur83583 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You gain nothing with the first division. What do you mean by "make the diagrma lines denser"? To set the view in order to see the moment values of different points you need to ask for Detailed Analysis. Just go to RESULTS - DETAILED ANALYSIS. Then on the DIVISION POINTS separator you may ask for the points that you want. You could also use the bar properties to give you bending moments along the beam. Just right click the bar that you want - Object Properties - NTM. If you then press "in point:" it will allow you to ask for the bending moment regarding the point where you have your mouse... Try this and let me know if it helped.
@Claxen113 жыл бұрын
@@nunoteixeira-robotstructur8358 I think I managed to do as you said so with Detailed Analysis you get a table of the values in the desired points but if you want to view the values as you hover over with the mouse it is possible only with the Object Properties Diagram and only for a bar at the time. I just wished it was as easy as SAP where you have the entire structural diagram of the moment displayed like in Robot but for each vertical line of the moment diagram it directly gives you a value. The lines corrispond to the nodes in which you have divided the bar and if you hover over these nodes it will even give you the coordinates(x,y,z) of where this moment is applayed.

I'm confused between the difference of Live load and Accidental Load. Aren't Live loads automaticly defined by the categories A, B; etc. linked to the legislation by destination of use? If I'm applying "specific" loads with custom values different to the categories wouldn't they be considered accidental loads?
@nunoteixeira-robotstructur83583 жыл бұрын
Hello there, Live loads usually are the most common loads from typical utilization of the building. Accidental loads are special events that are not at all typical for the utilization of the building. For example, a car crashing into an outside column is a accidental load. Other example of an accidental load is the stoppage of the system of water drainage in a big roof, leading to a big accumulation of water near the roof limits, witch gives you big loads on some purlins... In some part of the world, seismic loads are extremely rare (UK for example). In those countries seismic combinations "accidental", whereas in countries with big ground acceleration (Italy for example), seismic loading has a proper combination, different from the accidental one. Accidental events are, normally, combined with load factors less than the typical ones used in Ultimate Limited State.
