I’ve seen so many videos like this about the top five etc. Who is catching who $ when it comes to the thousands of lures that are the best for catching pike? 🧐🤮🤷♂️😐

I feel like your focus on bright/ loud/ obvious lures is somewhat flawed. When a half interested pike fears its prey is about to escape, that can often trigger a strike... a pike knows that a huge orange rattling plug couldnt escape if it tried. Alot of my most epic days have come fishing relatively subtle lures, even in pretty dirty water. Last June I had a session where I caught over a dozen pike in the 40" range in about 2 hours, the water was filthy and all they would hit was a plain silver spoon.

I have multiple "top tier" pike lures that absolutely skunk my brains out. Days and days without a strike. A basic Five-of-Diamonds Spoon, regardless of size, brings home multiple a day. I do not get it.

I just bought my halo Starlite rod. Do you think a 808 saltwater reel work for this rod?

Kalins jerk minnow jr, keitech easy shiners, roboworm, authentx all have done well for me. Anyone ever have any experience in zman for walleye? Not many have posted about them and I have been looking at them for awhile now

Thanks Travis. I used your method to create several walleye jigs. I love learning techniques like this.

*I would say it’s dang good since **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s caught a pike first time using it! My cousin had one that cost the same price I paid, but for one. And didn’t catch anything. I say it’s a winner!*

*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*

interesting how americans how more about hard baits. But then again not a single jerkbait. Here in europe we mostly fish with soft baits or jerkbaits for pike.

i catch most of my pike on jerk baits, spoons, grubs, and lipless crankbaits

What’s your favorite best leader combo for the spook? Best leader to keep a good walk the dog?
@kos79412 жыл бұрын
150lb fluorocarbon , fluoro over 1mm is good for pike any knicks or scratched cut and retye the leader. Also single strand titanium is very good due to the thinness , lightness and durability. Try use a lightweight snap and swivel when fishing topwater on your leaders

Your baits are pretty old, you may want to check the Swedes for more innovative lures. Check out kanagratis for instance and go a little bigger.

I'm with the Nebraska Walleye Association nebraskawalleye.com/fishing-is-fun-2/ We are a non profit who promote fishing in Nebraska. We have an updated web page and I am putting together instructional video to help people learn how to fish for walleye. I would very much like to use your video as part of this presentation.

my top 5 are spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits, spook (almost any decent sized top water), and a jerkbait.

That’s good to hear! I love Mimic Minnows (awesome for Pike) so hopefully I and my brother will have better luck this summer! Will the 2.5 inch Mimmic or the fish fry size best? Also, which colour? (I have the red/green/silver and I have some baby perch green/orange.

@@diaryofagoat-lass1023 The 2.5 inch mimic in silver works really well for me.
