Over-acting, typical of Hollywood and unwatchable after watching British tv and films- much more natural and engaging.

Ok but why was Johnny trying to park that car on her heels? Not a great start to the “I’m not going to hurt you” message.

I find it funny she says "Minny Don't Burn Chicken" then later when the money from the book comes in she forget the chicken and burns it. Hollywood story set up. Like in Black Panther the one tribe saying they will never help in a fight later shows up to help. It would be nice if Hollywood would stop doing those kind of story set ups. It's getting OLD!

I still enjoy the movie, but I see more and more why Viola Davis had such issues with it. In the first scene, Minnie is portrayed as the obstacle in making a connection with Celia by not wanting them to sit together. Exactly WHY Minnie does what she does isn't explained: maids are not allowed to eat with their employers in the dining room due to racism. Minnie is trying to teach Celia how to behave in the typical Southern manner befitting an upper class lady, but we never get any insight into how Minnie feels about having to eat in the kitchen due to her race.

I love how Celia shows that regardless of the time period in American history. There’s always been white people like her that think racism and white superiority is fucking stupid. She sees Minnie as a friend and her employee nothing more.
