My uncle was a MOT officer and he said the Invercargil traffic department was one of the best traffic departments in NZ the city had the lowest accident and drink driving rates in the country. It was a massive error when the government merged the police & traffic since the country lost the MOT traffic enforcement officers and education officers driving standards have dropped drink driving rates are high and so is our road death toll. A few years after the merger my uncle was sad to see the work that him & his fellow traffic officers did to make our roads safe was being undone the police are to overstretched trying to juggle enforcement of traffic and criminal laws NZ needs separate traffic enforcement agencies again

I must say that since the last rejig of bus routes and timetables, I have found using the buses really frustrating. A large number of streets were cut from the routes, making it really difficult for a lot of bus users to go anywhere. I would like to know what logic was applied to the re-routing. It's all very well for the mayor to say that standing for a few minutes in a bus shelter with a raincoat or an umbrella is a solution, but that is a naïve outlook. A few minutes in the bus shelter I use can turn into 10 or 15 minutes depending on the arrival of the bus at a much later time than is scheduled. And when that southerly blows through an open window panel it's extremely uncomfortable.

I think there should be a a far bigger difference in voting power between rate payers and rent payers .. just saying..

We don't want NZ becoming like the US but the Mayor of Invercargill has to carry a machete around to protect himself ... Stupid ass politicians need to wake up to themselves...

At the end of the day, if David Parker and other politicians for that matter aren't technology experts, physicists, engineers or inventors, then all they can offer is rules instead of solutions. Where are the inventors and engineers who are top of their field in politics, only fraudsters taking the top rated jobs in NZ. It is this thinking that needs to change.
