His music, either with Avenue Blue or solo is just beautiful. Jeff and Peter White are my two favorite smooth jazz artists. I miss him. I had the chance to see him twice live and the crowd really liked him.

I used to be obsessed with this song from my 1st birthday to my 3rd, my grandma has brought me a toy keyboard from Walgreens the day before and we had a party at my house. I’d always go on the family computer and search the song up and go back and forth to the keyboard and back to the computer playing the notes simply. My dad knew I was gonna become a pianist of how quickly I was getting the song down and so he introduced me into John Paul Jones and that’s when I knew my life changed. I’m in a band now which started a few weeks ago!

Ah. Memories. Back in the late 1980’s I stood on stage and played bass on this song so many times.

What a wonderful version of this Marvin Gaye classic, the band are so tight, the sound of that saxophone is heavenly and as for Mr Perry, his range and ability to interpret other peoples songs is just so very special, a real treasure and someone whose voice from those days in the Montclairs, Perry and Sanlin up until today remains a magnificent instrument. Thank you so much for posting this heartfelt performance.

6/1/2023 9pm show Blue Note Hawaii. True Story. The room only has about 30 people. My friends and I are sitting at a table closest to the stage. I am 6 ft away from Benoit. Benoit: "Okay folks, any song requests?" Me: "Linus and Lucy!" Benoit: "Really?@#$!" (fyi song is performed by him, but not written by him) Benoit: "(quietly)Ugh .. can I do another song first?" Me: "Sure!" David Benoit is a real class act.
