Surely with all the horses in the usa going overseas for the meatmarket ot to the knackers,it would be a good idea to geld the stallions and stop breeding mongrel horses

It’s a mistake to think that male horses control a h 2:19 erd of horses. The oldest female in the group is the leader,; when the females of the group get tired of the stallion, they drive him away and get another. Female horses stay with their female relatives, males leave.

Awesome sighting of a beautiful moth! - but this is actually a female buckmoth, probably Hera Buckmoth, Hemileuca hera. Sagebrush is the host plant. Coloration is very similar to the tiger moth. mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=7741 bugguide.net/node/view/100806

These videos would be ten times better without the music. The natural sounds are part of the lore of the wild horses. I cannot for the life of me understand why a lot of people place music to them. It takes so much of nature away.
@cacatr44954 жыл бұрын
What kind of natural, ambient sound would naturally accompany still photos? Much of this video is still photos which have no ambient sounds of nature.

Out of bounds = outside the HMA?

Yes out of bounds in when they are out of the Herd Management Area or HMA.

@HighStakesRanch5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you are asking? Sand Wash Basin is a multi-use area. Yes there is some grazing, yes there is other wildlife that live peacefully with the wild horses.
@westernhorsewatchers5 жыл бұрын
Do you have any data or charts showing how resources are allocated among those animals? Do you know any of the folks at 12:18 in this video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/moCTo4Wtg9mfhrs

@@westernhorsewatchers I have spoken to them on the phone. Wild Horse Warriors in not in charge of the PZP program in Sand Wash Basin. We do support the PZP program and believe when administered correctly it works. You can contact our local BLM to talk to them about the group in charge of the PZP program.
@westernhorsewatchers5 жыл бұрын
Haven't found data yet for Colorado, but I believe they will show, based on numbers from other states, that the lion's share of resources goes to cattle and sheep. Then you have the 'advocates' driving the horse populations downward with contraceptives. This just seems incredible to me, the land was set aside for the horses.
@HighStakesRanch5 жыл бұрын
@@westernhorsewatchers unfortunately the grazing permits go back 100 years, the Wild Horse and Burro Act only 50. Sand Wash Basin is not a Horse Range, which is just for wild horses, it is a Herd Management Area within a multi-use area. The sheep, elk , deer all have a right to be there. Its a matter of managing the numbers of all the wild life, which is done through hunting the other wildlife. There is only so much land and so much vegetation and water on that land. A herd of wild horses that does not use any from of controlling the numbers will double in size every 4 years. The land can not sustain that kind of growth. We want a healthy band of wild horses, to have that we have to have a healthy range with that comes the responsibility of true wild horse warriors to understand that their has to be controls on the growth rate.
