And not even a Junghans here? What expertise is that? A far thinner watch I know and yet in the reasonable price range is the Junghans Meister Driver with its 7mm. Or at least the very popular Max Bill which is 9mm. All glass included. Much thinner than Baltic !

Love your channel! I should mention that the Bulova Racer Chrono is using the Miyota OS21 quartz movement while the Lunar Pilot has the Bulova proprietary NP20. So, unfortunately no 262 high frequency quartz in there and It's a shame 😞

Sure that last seiko is nice..but the price isnt..if 1 is gonna spend rhat much id prefer saving up more and getting a grand seiko..2nd hand in good condition if need be. Ok 2k v 6k is a big difference but id suggest theres no comparison overall quality wise of rhe warches. The g s leagues ahead

Gotta agree on the edc front & the watch but obviously being in the Uk alot of these colabs mean nothing needless to say i have'nt visited the James site , i also rate the Citizen but for the same reasons as yourself & not being able to swap out that two tone bracelet makes it a plain No. Good luck for 25' .

Isn’t timex Chinese ? Paying that much is ridiculous. How do you know it’s the best since you didn’t have in hand ?
@lain971911 сағат бұрын
In the strictest sense, one would have to have extensive experience with every single model to claim one is the best, and this would still be just an opinion. However, this isn't how the word is typically used, it would be silly.

@ not correct. Ideally if you are going to call something the ‘best’ you need to to have a minimal experience with that object unless it’s based on hearsay.

This was my first year of watch collecting - and wow was it fun! I've enjoyed watching your content throughout the year! Looking forward to more in 2025. Happy New Year!

I think that Mido's TV Big Date was a significant release for 2024. Well, it was launched in 2023, but that initial launch had a faulty movement, which Mido has since corrected (look for "[ETA] C07651+" identification behind the balance wheel). For some regions, like Canada, we didn't get that initial launch until Mido produced their corrected Caliber 80 Big Date. So it really found its feet in 2024. And if anyone still wants to quibble over the year, then let's say that the TV Big Date model in chocolate & rose gold PVD is the looker for the year. It's a fresh design, sporty and elegant, giving a big date/grande date along with degradé (or fumé) dial at an affordable price. They also launched their TV 35, a smaller model with the same design but with a conventional date window (not a big date movement).

The new Citizen Suratto is about 5mm and $300. I hope they come out with more thin models. It's an ecodrive quartz and does not have a seconds complication for those annoyed by deadbeat seconds.

Great report on the Seiko Museum, which I also had the pleasure of visiting a few months ago. I highly recommend checking out the VOGA Watch Museum in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture. Established in 2017 by the legendary watch dealer and collector Toshio Masu, the museum showcases his private collection of over 800 vintage watches, including some exceptionally rare pieces in pristine condition.

Beautiful video!! Those shots of the Astron were amazing!! Been wondering something.. So, In 1931, Rolex invented and patented the world's first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor. In 1969 Seiko invented the Astron. So, In theory we had 38 years between rotor and quartz and roughly 55 years from quartz to now. Ok, So are pre calculator technologies like a rotor watch the same as an abacus compared to a Texas instrument calculator? Are we over romanticizing non-quartz a little bit? Keep up the great work!!
@lain97193 күн бұрын
The pleasure I derive from a mechanical watch is in knowing there's a mechanical heart in this beautiful thing I have on my wrist, it's an experience that slightly improves my mood throughout the day. Similarly, I'd rather play an acoustic piano or Fender Rhodes than a synth keyboard despite the inconveniences of space and cost. In fact, the synth is my least favorite instrument in a rock band, even though it's more capable than the others. An abacus, on the other hand, only feels like an inconvenience to me. YMMV.

@@lain9719 A magically vibrating crystal that is charged with a lightning spell cast by lithium wizards is also a modern splendor only reserved to those with the privilege to be born in the modern age. We have solar powered watches that connect to radio waves to have atomic timing. Turn on lights in dark rooms when you turn your wrist. Concepts no baby boomer could imagine in the early 60s with gears and springs.

@@wastedaga1nWell, yes, and I can understand if that gets you excited, just like I understand all the tonal possibilities of a synth, they're just not my preference. Ow god. If you are still in Japan you should make a video looking at 2nd hand watches in hardoff. I have seen some videos and its crazy what some stores have and the prices
@Masamune-di9su20 сағат бұрын
I recommend exploring the 2nd hand shops at Nakano Broadway (e.g. FireKids or Jack-Road) over Hard Off. While Hard Off may offer competitive prices, the selection of non-fashion watches is often limited, and the timepieces are typically not inspected or serviced by a watchmaker.

This channel has helped me understand that wrist size completely impacts the watches that we can truly enjoy. Having a 19cm (7 1/2) wrists I have just unsubscribed as this channel has fantastic quality and well thought out content but however as stated previously this channel is for the smaller wristed and is a gem for that group. All the best in 2025!

A notable addition to the list would be the Japanese microbrand Azusa, particularly its Orthodoxy-R model. This timepiece stands out for its rare zaratsu polishing-a hallmark of refinement typically reserved for significantly more expensive models, such as those from Grand Seiko. Priced at approximately EUR 615 in Japan and around EUR 800 in Europe, the Orthodoxy-R offers in my view offers exceptional craftsmanship and sophistication at a fraction of the cost.

Nice video. My favorites are Seiko Baby snowflake titanium. And the European glacier blue Seiko Alpinist. Others I admire are the Herbelin Newport for its shape and interesting lugs and Charlie Paris which nobody ever reviews. I hope to save for one of these for next birthday. I think after studying watches for a year I enjoy it much like art. But for owning I would rather spend money on my car. Food. Suits. And cologne. But I enjoy seeing new watches like viewing art.

Just a marketing angle imo. A million more effective ways of reducing damage done to rhe environment. As you kinda alluded to. Anyways now that ive got that off my chest. Some really nice shots there..and not a bad looking watch for as you say beachy stuff. .
