Two questions; Does the roller cause premature tyre wear? Should I get a cheap training tyre? Also could one use a regular mag type or fan resistance trainer on a trike?
@hostelshoppe
@hostelshoppe 8 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, Yes, the roller or any trainer can cause more wear on the tire, so it is good to have a dedicated "trainer tire" with a smooth tread. Keep your regular tire for regular riding. If you have a 26" or 700c rear wheel with a quick release skewer, you can use regular trainers from Saris or Wahoo. If you have a thru-axle, you will need an adapter. 20" wheels would work best on the rollers. We have select trainers on sale at hostelshoppe.com/collections/stationary-trainers-rollers?page=1&grid_list=grid-view . Today is the last day of the sale.

Good video. Simple and well explained. Plus I think you’ve answered my questions about fishtailing or pedal sway. I definitely need to work on my back stroke. Am I correct in thinking the 110 trainer would be the better one to get? I’m a fairly strong rider, but have a definite muscle imbalance. My quads are much stronger than my hamstrings. @@hostelshoppeI’m new to riding trikes, age and old juries coming back to haunt me has made riding a Diamond framed bike impossible for me. I thought I was done biking for good. Then I tired a recumbent trike. I recently acquired a Catrike Dumont, major game changer, the fun is back with cycling. But my days for riding outdoors are numbered, winter is coming. So I’m looking for a trainer. I’m currently riding 20 miles comfortably, average about 16mph. I can push the trike up to 24.8mph but only for something close to a mile. And that was with a tailwind. I’ve do get a lot of pedal sway, from watching your video, it’s because I’m pushing, which is somewhat surprising to me because I’ve always been a spinner on a regular bike. Or at least I use to be. Anyway, with this knowledge, should get the 100 or the 110 trainer. I’m leaning toward the 110 with the idea of improving muscle tone and balance during the winter months. Or would I be better off with the lighter resistance of the 100? And thank you in advance.

I'm trying to modify my Sun EZ-3 USX HD to drive with differential. Without it i feel less as i cannot climb small obstacles without electric motor assistance. I'm curious about how the fork rotates in that clamp. For instance if you enter a street from a driveway crossing a gutter. The front tire and the trailing trikes ready tires are going to be at a hire elevation than the front trikes rear tires. Somehow the front fork has to allow for that. How is this accomplished?

@@rdkuless Hi Rob, The link was to Radical Designs site, as I don't have the product in stock yet. They make four sizes of liners: Racer, Small, Medium and Large to match the four sizes of their pannier bags. Synthetic CORDURA-which does not retain water as does natural cotton-can be chemically treated to endow it with water-repellency and other beneficial properties. I also did a bit more research and it does have a PU coating which gives it water repellency, and we have found the bags to be very durable. What kind of trike are you using? I can recommend some other bags that might work. Are you using a rear rack? We stock Ortlieb as well.
