Only thing i would really do differently is to drill a small hole at the front part of each ski where it curves up and attack a little circle of rope to clip the carabiner for the tow-rope onto, that will help you get that lift more easily when pulling, otherwise looks great. I might try this build this winter, last winter i made a collapsible one but i only attached the struts to the supports with two bolts. It worked fine but your build is probably sturdier. Gonna make two to haul all my ice camping gear this winter so we'll see which one is best!

@gillsnbillsoutdoors612 Жыл бұрын
Thanks man.. unfortunately it happens.. part of fishing. We where fishing a clear lake so I went light on my leaders and it bit me… main line I use 10lb yo-zuri and leaders I use diawa leader line 4-8 for walleye
@mr.schwartz2090 Жыл бұрын
@@gillsnbillsoutdoors612 No doubt. Interesting, I've heard good things about both. I normally use 6# suffix Ice magic mono on my jigging rod. On tip ups I use an 8# Berkeley vanish floro leader but the pike bite it off. I've heard seaguar gold label floro in the 10-20# range is super abrasion resistant and thin enough to not spook walleye. Going to try it on tip ups

@@mr.schwartz2090one reason we like the autos is most the time the hook sets in the corner of the mouth which keeps line away from the teeth.. which allows us to fish lighter line. Also having the drag from your reel helps fight the fish for you so we can use lighter line.

@@gillsnbillsoutdoors612 sure ... and you will laugh... It's called "Jug fishing" please hear me out... cuz I LOVE MY ICE FISHING.... So, we pick a spot...on a frozen lake of course...drill 6-12 holes...in case we move our rig... Tie off heavier cordage or tip-up line to a baited hook(s)....lowered to guessing right depth..... THEN ...( *** here is the fun part...) run the line out..25...50...100..200 ft...and tie off to a jug... I could be a milk jug, water jug, pail.....just some kind of jug. ... I fish Northern Saskatchewan and some lakes have ausome jack fish and Waleye... So, you're sitting around watching the jugs...then one takes off... SOMETIMES....you can't even catch the jug before it hits the hole.... I know a few ice fishing friends...and no one jug fishes.. TRY IT.... hilarious. And best of luck this season 👍

Way easier way to set up that auto, plus why leave the bail open on it?
@gillsnbillsoutdoors612 Жыл бұрын
Setting it up this way has no resistance. So on a light bite it works really well actually..basically it’s working like a tip up free spool so the fish feels nothing but now you can set the hook and fight the fish in a rod and reel. Or if you travel to Minnesota and own hook setting devices now you can still fight fish on rod and reel

I was hoping to see your handle modifications up close and what is your height? Helps to know if I would need to do the same. Also, do you have heat grips under those sleeves
@gillsnbillsoutdoors6122 жыл бұрын
All we did we cut 2x4 blocks to keep the handle bars from going all the way down. The handle bar limits out on the 2x4 which makes driving while standing much easier. We are both 6 foot 2” felt like we had to bend over allot with out the 2x4.. also no heated grips that wasn’t an option on the original models
