It’s a shame this was cut as it’s a really good scene to flesh out Snape and him trying to snare Harry’s arrogance, but he soon realises that Harry actually respects Snape (unlike his Dad) and is listening and taking notes with intention.

The fact they made the scenes with the dursleys deleted scenes is wildly criminal. My two greatest disappointments of seven part 1 and part 2 were the deleted scenes with the dursleys and how they minimized the fight between Molly and bellatrix. They had Harry fly around hogwarts with Voldemort which didn’t happen. Harry was under his invisibility cloak in the book wandering through the battle, seeing everyone fight even though they believed he was dead still. So many characters were given a time to shine during those last pages, and it showed it was more than Harry, more than themselves. And then you reach Molly enter into a rage when Bellatrix almost killed Ginny. She lost Fred, believed she lost Harry, lost so many friends, her son became a werewolf, and she almost lost her only daughter. Sweet, sweet Molly finally let all the rage and frustration out. She showed she was a badass, and momma bear came out 10,000%. I hated the way they portrayed it in the move. Such a disappointment. I’ll never forget reading her scream, “OUT OF MY WAY!” And when others tried to help her fight Bellatrix, “No! Get back! Get back! She is mine!” Dawg, the ground cracked beneath their feet during that fight. And they summed it up to five seconds of Molly looking frail and ready to collapse.

The films could have been 12 films really - if they had split all the books but the first (which they could have). The issue would have been quality because of the time factor - they would have had to film continuously or the young actors might have aged out - probably could have slowed down after 4 once they were a bit older (they could have played the characters into their early twenties as they all looked young as adults).

Looking back, I bet they wished they had split 4, 5, and 6 too. Personally, I would have loved to see 3 more films, but hopefully, the streaming series will cover most of what was left out of the films.

This scene isn't meant to forgive her I feel. Its meant to show that her contempt towards the magical world isn't just ignorance, its emotional. She lost her sister to the magic world so even though dwelling and fostering hate isn't morally correct it shows that she isn't just ignorantly hateful but associates the fault of her sister with the wizarding world.

People who complain that this was deleted have zero sense of how movies are made. And that's okay, because it's love for the books. I love the books myself!! But, in terms of editing a film, you've gotta have a flow. Especially when its the final entry (yeah, yeah, I know it's two parts) of a major franchise. And to have a flow, you’ve gotta set the pace. And Deathly Hallows set the pace by coming right out of the gate with depressing and scary vibes. This scene would not have worked. The only way it could have worked is if they'd filmed some other scenes of Harry at the house, to insert into the intro where Hermione erases her parents' memories before the title card. They could've had other clips of Harry in there, packing his things or something, and then had this scene in the actual movie before the Order arrives to get him out of there. But hey, missed opportunities are a part of filmmaking! 🤷♂️

I wish we saw more of this petunia. They made the dursleys cartoonish and this scene is just jarring. Its such a great scene but given the past context, it makes little sense. To me the biggest example of this isnt even her disdain towards harry previously. It was her sitting quietly while marge bad mouthed lily.

They approached it as if they're making a historical documentary and not a fantasy film. That's one of the main reasons why the films look so real and authentic

Sheesh. They should have kept this scene. Would have been nice nods to the last two Captain America movies while giving us a unique perspective on whether Cap was in the right or not at the Triskelion, considering his fugitive status at the time.

Nobody mentions how Vernon does not respond, drops his arms, and looks away almost ashamedly when Harry says "I'm just a waste of space right?" Even Vernon, despite how horrid he has always been to Harry, does care about him somewhere deep inside, and does feel shame about the treatment. This simple 2 second reaction suddenly gives his character more depth. This is a scene that effortlessly does so much character work in a span of only two minutes, but was cut for god knows why

I prefer the Dudley one. After all he was just a kid following his evil parents but the older he grew the more respect he grew for Harry hence why him telling Harry "I don't think you're a waste of space" doesn't feel out of nowhere like this does. All this time you treated your sister's child like dog shit and bad mouthing her now you talking about "I lost a sister" f outta here she don't deserve no sympathy.
