Hi Cuz'n. I'm reading a horror suspense Christmas book called "25 days" by Per Jacobson. Love the stickers on the Kindle.

💜 I absolutely LOVE your content! I'm currently reading The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. It is a heavy read, but I'm enjoying it. It might be another to add to your list for him.

Sooooo I just finished reading Sky Full of Elephants primarily based off of your recommendation. I don’t know the words to articulate what this book is except POWERFUL. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the recommendation. It was a book I needed, that I didn’t know I needed, but my ancestors knew I needed!! Thank you 🙏🏾!!

Just finished the book. The plot felt incomplete. Charlie was severely underdeveloped as a character. The author makes a point to mention how Charlie came to recognize various expressions of blackness and life in general at the end but when they get to Mobile Blackness is a very singular cult like experience.
@shelbeyandthebookclub4 күн бұрын
i think a lot is going over your head about the book. it’s supposed to be a conversation about Black Utopia and how if Black people came together on one accord we could do very great things like building a society once the world crashes. It’s also decentering whiteness. his character is developed if you think about the point of his journey which is to learn to love his blackness enough to his own power, despite what society has taught him about himself. i can see your perspective if you’re looking for a happy ending or for things to be spelled out a certain way. Charlie is left open ended because the possibilities are now endless. He’s found himself. He can do whatever he wants. But, maybe it just wasn’t for you and that’s okay.

Ms. Bev is my favorite author of all time! Love how you talked about Indigo - it shows how important these stories of historical fiction are! Will have to check out the Maggie Grey books - I've read many books, some from best selling authors! - with editing errors so that's not a problem as long as I enjoy the story! Great recs!
@shelbeyandthebookclub6 күн бұрын
Thank you! Ms. Bev is awesome! People have such a warped idea of what good books are that editing makes them so mean towards indie authors.

Loved Indigo. And I told Ms Beverly Jenkins herself when I met her at RRAW Experience in November. Reading Raven now. I’m hooked.
