Do not drill the turret weapons. Instead glue the magnets to the side of the weapon, right on the pin hole. You will have a bigger contact surface, but you need to shorten the center pin a little bit more to compensate the thickness of the magnet.

You're supposed to use paper towel to get rid of excess water off the paper before you add paint to it. You can also wash the palette paper multiple times to re-use it for a few weeks. Btw - you soak the pallet paper for fifteen minutes in extremely hot water before using for the first time.

When you were drilling at 22:59 was that because you had cut the ring of before you decided to use smaller magnets to fit in the ring? I was confused as you said to glue in the circular pin and then you started drilling.

To create holes in order to put the magnets in u can also use q soldering iron. In mycase the holes are a bit messy in the end and might need to patch with some greenstuff but it does the job and its cheaper than an electric drill imo.

The old army painter paints did have a tendency to be quite weak pigment wise, and seperate a lot so often you had more medium than paint on your pallet. No paint is going to suddenly make any of us a superstar, but I’m sure that using these over the old ones means your experience will be more enjoyable as you won’t be fighting the paint all the time!

I appreciate this video very much as it's the most up to date video with the current sprue set when it comes to the Dominus class and the changes that occurred with the 9th edition box for it. I do wish this video was more digestable. Perhaps an updated video with a shorter run time and a direct step by step would be more manageable.

Decent guide but oh my god is it unnecessarily long. You do not need to include yourself vacuuming your frigging workbench my guy. It's "Here's what magnets you need, here's where they go. You gotta drill this bit or sand this edge." Not "let me make it 40 minutes long." Aside from that, it's a decent video and one of the precious few guides to magnetizing a Castellan/Valiant that does assume people are gonna buy third party parts to replace the end caps or magnetize the elbows.
@leos88136 ай бұрын
Do you think the 3mm army painter magnets would be strong enough for the arms?
@YourAverageBearGaming6 ай бұрын
Probably, but I would go bigger if I could. I don't remember what size I used for the armigers (i mentioned it in the video), but it was probably 4 or 5mm. You could probably get away with it, but the joint would be loose and liable to disconnect when you touched it. But if it is all you have, it will do.
@jadeblack55868 ай бұрын
Sometimes, you really need to use the paints yourself to really learn what is good or bad. I'm doing this myself working from acrylic you'd use on a canvas to citadel paint to speed painter. I used the zenithal priming and seeing what works and what doesn't.

Trying to start the Old World (a remake of Warhammer Battle) because I love classic medieval fantasy. I’m currently motivated, but there are no stocks available. It’s sad to say, but I’m quite sure I will move on to other things if I have to wait too long, and Games Workshop will miss my hype window for their product. Regarding the Old World, it’s a "new product". I’m really afraid that without the possibility to start at launch, they will never have enough new players to add to the existing battle players, hindering the growth of the community and not creating a sufficient customer base for this universe in the future. I will be sad to see this game drop again .....
@YourAverageBearGaming9 ай бұрын
It really is almost impossible to know what GW plans to do with "out of stock" models. They aren't transparent about what is a one and done release and what they plan to continue to keep in the range. I honestly can't tell if it is a strategic plan to leverage fear of missing out or if it just bad planning.

i filled the hole with filling putty then drilled 2x 2mm holes (as far apart as possible) and filled them with 2x 2x1mm magnets. On the weapon i removed most of the tab leaving a small stub in the middle and again drilled 2x 2mm holes. The weight of the weapon is so small that the magnets can take that force no problem, you can even pick up the whole model holding the weapon without it slipping. The advantage being that you cant see the magnets i.e. it looks like the weapon is glued down.

Late to the party, but having build multiple knights I can say that EVERY knight model comes with instruction manual that has glaring errors. I have no idea how GW can be this massively incompetent, but I am 100% sure that nobody who has been in this hobby for a few years will disagree. GW is one of the most incompetent companies in the world.
@YourAverageBearGaming10 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've come across a few nasty errors in the instructions. I used to get pretty upset about it, but I've just learned to accept it. I'm probably giving GW a pass, but at least they make plastic toys as opposed to say airplanes, or pharmaceuticals.

Can I use a knight questoris magnet kit to magnetise this model?
@Azh.aepedits10 ай бұрын
Or is there a specific kit i can use to magnetise this
@YourAverageBearGaming10 ай бұрын
I don't have any experience with kit specific magnet sets, so I couldn't say one way or the other. I will say that if this is your first magnetization project, getting a kit like this is probably a decent approach. My preference is to have a variety of disk magnet sizes on hand so I can magnetize any kit I want, but that takes time and a bit of money so it may not be the best approach for everyone. What I will say is take a good look at the joints you are trying to magnetize. Measure it up so you can use the largest magnet that can fit the available space. You will never regret having too strong a connection, but the opposite is too often true.

Solution im coming up with is to magnetize the middle well that holds the rocket launcher base. That way i magnetize the bottom of the rocketlauncher and the bottom of the wheel that goes in that well on the lascannon and bombard. You lose the ability to move the lascannon and bombard up and down but i dont mind too much. then for the faceplate one magnet in the middle just to hold it push fitted into the slots. Biggest annoyance is the lascannon battery, magnetizing it to the base is easy but the cable connection is pretty flimsy
@YourAverageBearGaming10 ай бұрын
Cable connections and ammo feeds are the bane of most magnetizing projects in 40k. Sometimes they are fine without a connection (they end up in the right place), but mostly they are a pain.
