So sad to see such a beautiful building being demolished. What would it cost to build such a structure these days? Thanks for capturing it for posterity 👍👍

Having been brought up in the local area, where so many good players have played their football, it's unusual to find 2 teams so devoid of ability, even as Old Crocks. Still they all had fun and it was played in good spirit 👍

Hi Edward, what a great video and historical record of the Kirkintilloch area and it's mining history. My family are from Kirkintilloch and worked in the local pits. I now live in Auckland, New Zealand but look forward to coming back home for a holiday post Covid!

I can remember playing on the moulds (irons as we called them) around 1968 - 70 which were stored on the 'bing' by the old railway and burn on the way to the Greens, never realised how dangerous it was. I was wondering if the Charlie Martin in the photos was the same one I worked with in the Post Office during the '80s ?

Just found your presentation, as I was looking up Drumgrew, to see if I could add to my hazy childhood memories of visiting my aunt Bessie Beveridge and her brother Bobby. I notice the name Haddow mentioned. My aunt Jessie Beveridge married Dan Haddow, who became a colliery manager. I remember visiting them at Stonehouse. Dan was one of the early car owners and I remember being driven down to Drumgrew in luxury, at the time. I enjoyed the pics of my cousins Jim and Wullie and also my Grandpa Beveridge, who died the year I was born. Many thanks for taking the time to create this fine body of work.

I remember cleaning the windows of the owner of the bus company that was flooded he told me he was on holiday and he saw his buses under water on the news. Also Mcnairs the builders merchants had just a month before moved premises from across the road in the Old Mill Industrial estate into their present premises and were completely flooded out.
