The man needs to switch to a genuine qualified instructor, and if that fails him, pay his oyster card. Its too dangerous you taking him out without a dual control car. Thats why a proper qualified instructor is safer as they have clutch and break control, training, and insurance that protects the learner. If he crashes (which is only a matter of time the longer this goes on) you're fucked.

Listen as someone who ran over a curb on her first test and was still asked to come back the next day because I’m a good driver(their words) bumping the curb won’t do more than nock off a few points. You will miss a side road, try but if you don’t check every one no worries. It was actually a joke on my second test that I was to far from the curb, but the instructor made me feel better. And don’t worry if you cry if you fail. They see it all the time. I cried I was embarrassed. The instructor said it was okay. Basically don’t panic. I ran over that curb because I panicked.
