Hi Bjorn! Thanks for the review! I wanted to ask you the following! For reaching the PULSE, sorrow solo sounds, do you think this pedal could work? I am thinking of getting this or the Pink Flow. I find both of them really easy to use, but maybe I have more range of things to do with the Pink Flow. It’s an investment but if you purchase separate pedals it’s the same cost.

Not a fan of this as an album, but it’s better than Rattle. Scattered is a bit boring but has a good solo, but I think there is one exceptional track namely Between two points- because of the feel of the solo and his daughter’s beautiful voice. But it is another’s composition !

I have a strat and the BD2 but it doesn't sound so great though my marshall valvestate 2020. It sound dull and mid rangey unlike your demo. Do I need a brighter amp? Like an AC15 or a fender deluxe reverb? Thanks!

Just from my point of view: RTL album I listen just once for 2-3 yrs. , guess, this one 2x a year in the near future. DG 1978 remains no.1. Btw, DSOTM perhaps every month, make me musically cool & happy. 😊

There's definitely a more predictable running order that he could've settled on, and that's how I listened to it the first hundred times, but I'm glad he switched it up. A more Floydian flow would slip by too quickly.

This is a beautiful album-cover art notwithstanding. It’s not been in high rotation for me, but only rotation for a few days. The first time I heard The Piper’s Call I played it three times in a row! Sorry everyone else-if you released something new in the past week I haven’t heard it!

All I can say is, 2 thumbs down, I do realize he has moved on from his earlier style of playing, not sure if this is an age thing, or he has redeveloped a more subtle tone to his guitar playing. I just don't hear any unique melody and creativeness like his earlier tones. His 1978 solo album in my opinion even trumps some of his Floyd era. Listen to Raise my rent, such an awesome highly creative solo. I have never heard him play anything like that since those days. This new album, hopefully will grow on me but it didn't take to me like On an Island did, and certainly nothing like 1978 version. All and all I m happy he is proud of his daughter, for her efforts in this album, very Kate Bush style, and in a way he is passing the torch to his family. He is still the best.

Hey Bjorn, great video. I really love your demos. I have a little request. Can you please do a video on Compressor pedals? I have read your buyer's guide article on Gilmourish a couple of times, and I just don’t get it. I would especially love a shootout between an older-style compressor pedal (like the MXR Script DynaComp) and a newer-style compressor pedal (like the Boss Compressor Sustainer). Is there really that big of a difference in sound?

I do prefer using single coils with fuzz. It just cleans up better and responds more dynamically to the pickups and your playing. Still, there's something about that dark spattery tone you get with humbuckers.

For me, the Luck and Strange album sounds like being between two points, a kind of transition from where Gimout was to something new. There are some very good songs, while other ones are more bob bob. Scattered is definitely the greatest track, while Between two points is the biggest surprise. It's so emotional, and out of the blue appears suddenly Romany Gilmour. His talented daughter takes naturally place on the stage. What I am wondering is if David will let Romany take more of his place on the next album as part of building up her career as a musician and next generation Gilmour. Yes, we are looking forward to watching and listening to David Gilmour live in Rome in October. After that, if they do not change the setlist, I would become a member of the very exclusive group of fans who have seen and heard two times David Gilmour playing Marrooned live. The song is only played two times before, at Valle Hovin in Oslo 1994 and one another special occasion before this tour...

@@ac30helix44 it's never like that, it sounds like a price harmonisation by producers. I guess this product has no more than 30 euros manufacturing cost. This margin is humongous. Yes, handbuilt pedals are pricy but keep in mind too that Europe and Greece are farily high cost countries so although the parts them selves might be cheap, these companies needs to make a living paying for all the overheads and salaries. Jam Pedals has grown and expanded recent years but they're still a small company, which means higher costs. You can either support it or not.

Hey Bjorn, you pretty much described my overall feeling of the album as I would put it. Although the more I play it, the more it grows on me, and also as a statement as one of one rock’s elders it has relevance. While dwelling on being in the twilight years of life might be depressing for some, it’d be nice to see Jagger do it even once on the latest Stones album, but it’s never going to happen. Also, even if I find Polly’s lyrics rather irritating at times too, simply because it feels like throwing someone a poem and telling them to write a cohesive song about it (a position I’ve been in myself), I get the sense that they both discuss David’s feelings for the song very thoroughly and that her words and his thoughts are very symbiotic. That said, give me Fat Old Sun anyday! Overall though, it is quite an amazing artistic statement for anyone to make at nearly 80. And Scattered is simply sublime. PS I’m putting together a playlist “best of” of David’s 5 solo albums, and I challenge anyone after hearing it to tell me he’s an average songwriter without Roger. Although, clearly infinitely better WITH Roger. But that fine example of Yin and Yang ended many decades ago. Peace and keep up the good work mate!

I'm afraid Gilmour lost all of his marbles. That rap cover of Comf Numb with Ice-T and Body Count was the last straw that broke the camel's back. Absolute piece of rubbish. I won't buy the album and won't go to Rome gigs, since he refuses to perform any Floyd material this time around. He still doesn't understand his solo albums are not nearly as great. At least Roger doesn't push only solo material on his listeners.
@gilmourishofficial

Look at the setlist. It's about 50% Floyd songs.

@@gilmourishofficial Ah, so he changed his mind, after all. Initial message was that he was skipping Roger-written Floyd material entirely. Probably as a reply to Roger for removing Dave's solos from Comf Numb and Dark Side Redux. They always have a comeback ready for each other. However, it's no surprise that Dave changed his mind. He understood no one wants to listen to his solo songs only and tickets would not sell as well without Floyd songs. Probably looked at the numbers. He needs Roger, one way or another. Just as Roger needs him. Shame they could never understand that and come to terms with each other. Instead spent years, decades, in this petty bickering and animosity. Such an enormous waste that was and still is. We'd rather they have back and forth musically, not destructively..

@@gilmourishofficial Ah, now I see.. Division Bell songs mostly that you counted for "Pink Floyd". OK, I think I better not comment on that. I have strong opinions on post-Waters Floyd and it's mostly not pretty. I won't flame the comments on your channel. But I like that "Sorrow" made the setlist. One of rare good songs that were written after Roger left.

Once they asked David why won't he revive Pink Floyd and he replied: "I don't want to work that much anymore". That sentence sums up why this album is such a lackluster from many points of view. He just doesn't care all that much anymore. It's probably both artistic burnout and the age. He floats in reckless abandon. Reputation, expectations, all that pressure and stress, he's tired of it all. He's letting it all go.
@gilmourishofficial
@gilmourishofficial 12 күн бұрын
I don't agree with that. I don't think there's no doubt that he's very inspired these days and based on recent interviews, he seems to be enjoying being a solo artist much more now than on the last two albuns. I get where you're coming from but I think that what we may see as a tired and uninspired artist is more about us and what expectations we have based on our fandom and having lived with his past music as fans. David is closing in on 80 and artists change and evolve. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes for the worse. But I think that's very subjective on our behalf.
