Thanks for this.. I was there for all three shows that weekend but missed most of this Sugaree and Dear Prudence because of a medical emergency (overdose) in the row behind me. This night was sooooo good. (edit- everyone was fine.. she rallied and finished the show)

@@GgggggyhgI think he was pretty psyched he could pull this off without the index. As a player myself I can’t imagine not having that 1st finger cause it completely changes how you do chord shapes and navigate the neck and that initial finger essentially acts like a anchor for the rest of your hand and besides that a lot of johns vibrato and phrasing is that first finger and his ring

I've seen this show twice. John is a streetwear savant. Minus a very expensive watch, he wears exceptionally conservative outfits to these shows. "40s workmen vibe" as he calls it. It's remarkable, and ordinary looking, non-flamboyant, man with a humble acoustic delivering the most incredible performance. If that's not the definition of talent, I don't know what is
