Thank you for this interview. It's good to know that a non-magician is able to engage magic with so much respect. You demonstrate the qualities of every great magician, which is how I know you are a fantastic entertainer. All magicians would do well to listen to the stories that are told here; it's so difficult to keep our focus on what is truly important within the realm of our art. Eugene Burger's most enduring piece of wisdom was the constant reminder to stay focused on magic's sacred purpose. I was never privileged with an opportunity to meet Eugene in person, and that will be the greatest lament of my life.

Thanks for the note! I feel so lucky to have met Eugene, if only for such a short time. He was one of a kind.

Great interview! I plan on seeking the book out. Big fan of the movie, HUGE fan of Cat Stevens. Only recently heard about Cat's possible cameo appearance. The actor in question's face is obscured by a hat, but it did not look like him to me. IMDb even lists him as "uncredited and unconfirmed" as appearing as a cameo. James Davidson set the record straight for me and should amend the IMDb list.

Harrison Greenbum represents today's feminized ultra-beta males with his feminized voice, weak jokes, woke stance, and his material is based on subjects he doesn't even understand. He's literally one of the worst comedians of all time. I was happy to see Norm Macdonald absolutely destroy him on stage. You couldn't pay me to go see one of his "performances".

Delightful! I'm not so easily entertained, but enjoyed this story from start to finish! The author has a clever wit and sure can turn a phrase. Highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oh yeah, and the narrator is perfect. Absolutely perfect. Satan 🤣

I live near Salinas. In Steinbeck country. Philyis Diller started out writing for a shopping news paper in the East Bay. Reminds me of growing up in 50's Bay Area.

This song is from the mind of Pat Paulsen, and if you ever saw him, it makes perfect sense. He would have made a great President. I'm intrigued that Tom Smothers starts the song with the phrase "Play magic fingers", because a couple of years later, Michael Nesmith (of the Monkees) says the same thing in Papa Gene's Blues. I have convinced myself with absolutely zero evidence that this is not a coincidence.
