NICE! Perhaps time to do a CD with tunes like this?

I second that emotion. I'd love to hear a collection of your tunes on my tube system without the nasty KZbin compression. BTW - The Holst sounds so smooth and forgiving - even on KZbin.

Perfect sound with my shot of espresso! Love the riff at 2:09! I should start playing again. It's been some time since I played, after sold the Seventy-Seven Exrubato. My fingers went into mourning.

As an owner of an L4CES, my heart goes to gibson. But the comparison is very interesting and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of Ibanez here.
@JackZucker11 күн бұрын
i actually replaced it with a '92 Heritage Eagle which absolutely blows away the gibson
@wckoek29 күн бұрын
Alone the L4 would sounded warm and rich solo, the Ibanez seemed to pop up more with backing or perhaps in a band setting. I have a feeling that the GB is more dynamic and the L4 is more even sounding.

@allengoyne2 ай бұрын
on Giant Steps are you sticking to one mode as you go through the melody?
@JackZucker2 ай бұрын
i think there's a link to the voicings. Not really using modes. I'm using diatonic 4th voicings on the melody
@allengoyne2 ай бұрын
I find it, at least today, that viewing the "church modes" harmonically it is easier just to view on guitar the parent key and then make that mental and musical shift as I am playing. This makes it easier for me to view especially the inner voices to keep it diatonic and not accidentally veer off. I still haven't really learned to harmonize the melodic minor modes yet.

I think the airy tone of the Gibson suits the tune better, but I plan to purchase the Yamaha. Very versatile instrument.

i ended up selling my yamaha and broke down and bought a gibson 335. I like it a lot better.

well, jaco didn't have a low B and it's a jaco line so there's that. I love the B string though.
