What happens if, say 6-8-10 hours elapses between coats? (e.g., overnight?) Will it eventually delaminate or what problem is created? Otherwise it seems you have to wait to sand until everything is cured and rely on a mechanical bond?

why bother making a video that leaves out alot of the process and and no explanation of some of the process. people who know how to do it are not the ones watching the videos.

If using 2 layers of 6oz cloth , when do you recommend applying the second ? Cloth , cloth resin ? Cloth resin cloth ?
@rayplex Жыл бұрын
Apply both layers at the same time. Suggest offsetting the layers for an even finish. Ray

What are the dimensions of your canoe and the dimensions of the fiberglass cloth. Like 6oz 20 wide? Looking to try this for mines but not too sure on the dimensions.

Would appreciate this video much more if the mindless soundtrack would have been eliminated. Since it is very difficult to convey this type of surface on camera, extra thought should have been given in how to best focus and light the surface area for the before and after shots. Wish Rayplex would update and redo all its videos. Always looking for repair and restoration information to fiberglass boat surfaces. The information is invaluable and helpful but the less than professional delivery is a big detractor.

I have zero experience with fiberglass work. I have watched tons of how-to videos on creating molds and laying in the glass. and this covered both extremely well. I only wish the video had continued to show how to join the separate pieces together. I am about ready to start on my very first project, and joining the parts is the ONLY thing I cannot find a good tutorial on. Sadly, that is the only negative to this video.

Umm the video cut off and when it came back on the square block is about a quarter of the thickness it was before the video cut out. Did you cut the block down? And was it sanded before the final coat of epoxy was applied when the video came back on? I'm so confused what happened. And I'm trying to learn! Dang it!

Wear a mask and eye protection (obviously) and wash your hands after working with fiberglass (you rub your eyes more intense than you think). Always tape the project where you are cutting to minimize splintering. My $0.02
