Thank you sweetie!❤ I put wood, metal and ropes in front of mine. So glad I did. Ex was drunk and crashed into the medical herb shelves. Jars would have crashed to the floor, all my harvest and time would have been lost.

I have sensitive skin and scent sensitive, but do need a mild scent of some kind because no matter what I put under my arms I still sweat and smell. I need a suggestion for the mildest scented most pleasant oxalate free or low oxalate essential oil out of all the essential oils????

Ive found jars losing its seal, in the spare room. Usually a soup or broth. But? I am not the only person placing things in there. These jars have been cluncked around and stacked onto with bags of heavy store cans! *keeping my opinion to myself, regarding this* I normally have very very few lids let go.

I forget what channel I was watching, but the lady said a good way to tell if something is completely dry from dehydrating is to stick it in a jar while it's still warm. Put the lid on and see if any condensation builds up in the jar. It's helped me a lot with fruits, since they stay gummy.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 13 сағат бұрын
The thing is, it will get condensation when it is warm even if it is fully dry. This is why I stress not putting anything in the jar until it is fully cooled and fully dry

Every time I need good knowledge, I always come here. It is the most trusted channel, in my opinion. I make my own cream cheese, but it is a large batch, and there are only two of us at home. So I am thinking of dehydrating some to use in cooking. I have canned store bought but don't know anyone that has canned homemade cream cheese. If anyone has successfully done it please let me know. Maybe will freeze some in ice cube trays. thanks for any info you can pass on.

Thanks for the reminder & info. We were without power & water for two weeks during the 2021 Texas deep freeze. Thankfully, we were fine food & heat wise, but we realized we needed to up our water storage ability. Learning more every day!

I have found that the Redi-Board (foam board) from Dollar Tree is excellent for laying on wire shelves to provide a cushioned surface for canned goods, (both glass jars and metal cans) and also to put between layers if you want to to stack them. The foamboard is light, easy to cut, and the jars slide easily on it. Best of all, it's cheap! On another subject, have you tried dehydrating Lil Smokies? I have some in the freezer and I'd like to store them in a way that doesn't require electricity. Can I dehydrate them or pressure can them? Thanks for any ideas you may have on this. I LOVE your videos and appreciate SO MUCH all the time and effort you put in to help others live abundantly without breaking the bank!

I am new to this and I have a question. How do I keep bought dried fruit such as raisins, cranberry or dates. I read not to use oxygen absorbers in the jars but can I vacuum seal them? Will this keep them or is there no way?

I always vacuum seal mine. It keeps them from drying out and turning hard

Good afternoon Heidi. Thank you for the tips on storing our food. I love the boards Patrick made you to stop the jars from falling off. What are the shelves you are using? I noticed the boards hook on something already on the shelves. Again thank you and God bless you, Patrick and the family.

I do not remember what the shelves were called, they are nothing fancy but our local store had a big sale on them several years back so we got 5 or 6 of them for $30 each

We added slats in our cellar when an earthquake knocked off several jars, I have moved my storage to a bedroom as the stairs started being too much to navigate in our older years. I use shelves now with bungee cords around the front. Each set of shelves are a different year.

I saw a video on making vanilla extract the other day. You should check out making vanilla extract sometimes. I am talking about soaking vanilla beans in alcohol. Have a good day. PS. I am talking about vanilla flavoring. I am just assuming that's the same thing as vanilla extract. You should do a video on foods that are not safe to can . Just to make sure we know about them. Have a good day again.
