We had brought a couple of the cats in that had been chasing it. This is our most timid cat and is a horrible hunter. I don’t think she’s ever caught anything except a butterfly. So we weren’t expecting her to have followed us way down the driveway. My son was able to climb into the thicket and get her away from the bunny. 👍🏻

You might need it. This happened to us last fall. Wind caught it and bent the front 3rd of the underbelly towards the back. I pulled over, pulled out my knife and cut it. Luckily I had some zip ties and tied things up so the wires wouldn't hit or the wind wouldn't damage them. Now I need to fix it. Kind of dreading it but it's gotta be done. Keep that extra coroplast in case you're tire has a blowout.

Are the small bulbs seed garlic?
@McVeyMcFarmАй бұрын
I believe they grow on elephant garlic, so you can plant them, and they’ll grow into a larger clove the first year, and then you can plant it again or leave it in the ground, and it’ll grow into the big bulbs that I harvested.

@@McVeyMcFarm Gotcha - I would tend to think the RR Library B&C Car was/is the real deal - given the nature of Border Town Casinos barking for business, wouldn't put it past them to have a replica on display and indicating that it was real. Thanks for the response and the video - it's a nice one!

Can I ask a couple of questions? What color paint did you use in the kitchen? I really like the colors top & bottoms. Also, have you changed the light under the cabinet where the control panel is located? I can’t figure out how to get that one out!! I’ve changed numerous lights out in the RV, large and small, but can’t get that light out due to the location. I’m hoping it can be done without moving all the controls in the cabinet above the light. Thanks.
@McVeyMcFarmАй бұрын
We used all Benjamin Moore Advanced paint on the cabinets. Colors were Cloud Cover for the uppers, and CW640 for the lowers/island/pantry door. We didn’t change out any of the lights.

4) Final notes. The Visitor Center in Furnace Creek has lists of suggested activities depending on how much time you have. If you have half a day, they suggest a list for that. For a full day, another list. For two full days, an excellent longer list. I like to stay overnight in Stovepipe Wells (I've visited a few dozen times). The rooms are very primitive, but clean. Then, you can get up before sunrise and head straight over to the Mesquite Dunes. The breezes overnight will have blown away all the footprints of the visitors, and you will get outstanding photos of the dunes at sunrise, in their most pristine state. And as you said, Zabriskie Point is a great photo spot at either sunrise or sunset.

3) The tourist area with the signs at Badwater Basin is not the lowest point. The actual lowest point changes constantly with the shifting of the surface. In general it's several miles out. The basin is an ancient lake bed. As all lake beds do, it goes downslope as you go away from the shore. If it went up instead of down, it wouldn't be a lake. It would be a hill. However, the landscape is extremely fragile, and the NPS doesn't want it to be destroyed by the thousands of daily visitors tromping around out there. So they picked a spot which was convenient for parking and restroom facilities, and said, "Here it is!". Hey, it's close enough.

Furnace Creek is not the only place in the park to fill up your gas tank. It's one of two. Stovepipe Wells is the other, and the gas is cheaper there.

Curious why you decided to use premier one fencing in addition to the tractor. Did you fear predation of digging animals?
@McVeyMcFarm3 ай бұрын
Peace of mind really … the only predator problem we’ve had was a fox jumping the fencing and snatching a full grown turkey and pulling through the premier fencing. This was an open roosting tractor though. We’ve never had a single predator problem from a chicken tractor + premier 1 netting. When you invest a ton of time, energy, and money into your meat birds, I’d hate to lose them all in one night to a frisky coon.
@stijnt23773 ай бұрын
@@McVeyMcFarm Yeah makes sense. Here in central Italy I use the netting for my layers who go inside their chickshaw at night. No issues with predators there either despite high fox and wolf activity in our area. I'm wondering if the frequent moving deters foxes because they can never really study the weak spots for very long.
@stijnt23773 ай бұрын
I made Justin's chickshaw and had the same concerns about the paneling, particularly to keep weasels and marten out in our area. I decided to put hardware cloth and then the paneling over top of that. So far after 6 months I have had zero predator issues, how has yours held up this past year?
@McVeyMcFarm3 ай бұрын
Great question! Still holding up great! We’ve had zero predator issues although we don’t have a ton of small/slinky type predators like it seems y’all do. Smallest here would be coons, skunks, etc …. We haven’t needed to add any sort of hardware cloth under the panels.

We take a big trip annually with another family (11 kids total between the two families). We just returned from a 17 day road trip with them to the Four Corners. We spent several days at Zion. Due to logistical reasons, I hiked the Narrows without anyone else from my family, but with my buddy (the dad of the other family) and three of his four kids. I went on for a while after their stopping point, but they stole the show that day by inflating inner tubes that they brought with them and then tubed the Virgin River to get back to the Riverside Walk. That may be a cool wrinkle to try that I haven’t seen anyone else do in person or online.
