If I found a group of otters in a certain spot of a lake a few days ago, how long might they spend in a single area? Thinking about how quickly they exhaust their food source. I'm just curious because I hope to go see them tomorrow and it has now been about two weeks that they've been there. This particular part of the lake has a small area that is not frozen yet which is why they are fishing there.
@michaelbertelsenphotography2 жыл бұрын
I have seen otter spend as little as two days in one spot. And then move on. There is no set time but if you see slush on the ice or in the snow then that means there is still activity. My recommendation is to go as soon as possible. Good luck

Just found your channel and subscribed. I like your no nonsense style of presenting 'just the facts' that I found very useful. I look forward to viewing more from you. One minor suggestion, you have listed your camera equipment, however, it would have been nice to see links to the boots and other gear you listed. Sometimes it is hard to catch the name of something when it is spoken, and a link would be helpful. Please keep up the good work!
Hello Michael, Thanks for the awesome video. Gear question- I am looking for snowshoe boots, I think it was the only pair you did not share the name of the boots. Would you mind sharing that boot brand and boot name?
@michaelbertelsenphotography3 жыл бұрын
Thanks William. The shorter boot that I typically wear snowshoeing is a Gortex boot made by RedHead( Bass Pro Shop Brand) It is labelled as a RCT Hunting Boot Style #520201. Leather Upper . I hope this helps you .

Awesome to be able to photograph the rare Pine marten which most people never see in most of the North American Continent is amazing. Its been on my photo list most of my life. I just got photos of River otters for the first time ever in January 2021. its now December 2021. we do have American Fishers in the Mountains of Maryland but no Pine Martens.
@michaelbertelsenphotography3 жыл бұрын
Eric, thank you for your comment. We are very fortunate to have a relatively healthy pine marten population . I have rarely seen American fishers. They are ver solitary ,unsociable creatures. I would love to photograph them!

Really nice images. Well done. How are you liking the 120-300mm?
@michaelbertelsenphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerry, I have the sigma 120 to 300 f 2:8 it’s extremely heavy sharpness is OK but nothing to write home about. I strongly recommend saving the money and purchasing the new Nikon 120 to 300 everything about it is better. much faster focussing,sharpness ,weight.
