I think so too. It makes sense, really. Everything that drives him to be more than what he is stems from a sense of self-loathing. He's a product of his environment with the Decepticons, and I like to think that deep down, he knows it. But that self-awareness is stifled by his sadistic behavioral patterns by which he's too familiar/comfortable with that prevents him from actually wanting to take the time to change. Deep down, I think he always wanted to be more like Optimus. But he never ended up that way.

Starkillers breathing is far more painful than vaders. Vader has an air filter and oxygenators that constantly pump out the harmful gases he inhaled when he burned. Malek on the other hand was crushed by a starship, his entire lower body was severed, along with the bottom half of his chest, jaw, and 3/4ths of his face was destroyed. Star killers suit acts as an iron lung which expands and compresses his rib cage to force him to inhale and exhale due to the fact he can no longer breathe on his own. Vader can put on and take off his suit at will, starkiller cannot as it is literally holding him together in one piece. Vader still has all his vital organs, starkiller only has one organ left, his brain. Starkiller is much more machine than man than Vader ever was. Starkillers suit is literally grafted and infused into the flesh, bones, and nerves of his body while vaders is almost like a uniform. They both suffer tremendously, but Starkiller sounds like he’s being tortured by every movement he makes

Actually star killer is in twice possibly three times as much pain as Vader. Vader had all his limbs cut off and burned to a crisp. His lungs while being assisted by a respirator still has some functionality left which explains the slow, human like breathing, Star killer on the other hand was crushed by a starship and *survived*. Unlike Vader who kept all or nearly all his internal organs, Star killer however, only has one functioning organ left. His brain, he had his lungs practically destroyed completely beyond repair, lost his entire lower body and much of his upper torso, and his entire lower jaw and 3/4ths of his face. His suit acts as an iron lung that forces him to breathe. Hence the more mechanized, struggled breathing. Vader can take off his suit, while Star killer cannot because unlike Vader, Star killers suit is painfully grafted not only into his flesh but bones as well.
