I agree people in the east coast are very nice and friendly compare to Ontario

They are not affordable anymore with the local wages. New Brunswick’s prices need to crash. If you added all your expenses up, someone in Ontario is probably doing better than if they moved to New Brunswick.

I was born in southern Ontario moved to BC at 14ish and lived there until I was 44. Then moved my family to NB. I'm now 60 and this is where I'll stay. The kids have all grown and left home years ago. They all like it here too. It is a place that time forgot when we got here the feeling, we had was its 40 years behind the rest of Canada. That feeling has long gone and now we are NB'ers. The life is good here but coming from such a high paced environment as Victoria BC It took some time to learn how to be patient and take things slower.

Sackville is an English town, right next to it is Memramcook which is very French, I moved to Memramcook from Ontario and didnt like it at all. Moncton is also very French, watch where you move to, unless you want to feel like you are living in Quebec. Job opportunities are WAY WAY WAY better in Ontario, without the need to speak French. For retirement it is OK though. Lately the rents are sky high, and I am considering going back to Ontario. With no Doctor here in NB it is tough and people have been on waiting lists for many years without finding a DR.

2024 is my 3rd summer; 2nd winter near the border with Maine. Weather reminds me a lot of Calgary. It snows but they're ready for it. Dec., Jan., & Feb=winter. March is melting & warmish.

The real estate are the ones who ruined the prices of houses in NB. For those of us who lived here all our lives know this 100% is true! Our housing prices were already costly. Once they started making advertisement like this to lure in people from Ontario.....Those shopping for housing in Ontario coming to NB thought our housing prices were cheap...(they wern't for our province) so the real estate turned around and decided to get greedy and started asking People selling their homes if they wanted to market their house on NB rate or Ontario rate. Ontario rate meant selling their houses 2 to 3x more the asking price.. What people from Ontario didn't realize they were getting OVER CHARGED for the houses they were buying! a house that was worth and sold 150 000 was now being sold 250 000 t0 300 000! So this house was only worth 150 000 got sold 250 000 all a sudden this house got an increase of "Fake" value which lead to increase in house taxes...and when they sold a few more houses in same areas (OVER PRICED) all sudden there was in increase in value in the area so they started increasing taxes ON ALL THE HOUSES. The Real Estate business is WHAT KILLED the housing marking in our Province. Now people cant afford their housing payments and can't find any affordable prices! SO before you thinking of relocating here please do your research...it's not all sunshine and rainbows like their painting it to be. Also....GOOD LUCK finding yourselves a family dr here in NB those of us have lived here for decades still can't find one!....DO YOUR RESEARCH!

And wouldn't that be wonderful to live in the Maritimes. As she says, the people are so wonderful. Kindness, concern for others who need help, compassion, civility, that's what you find there. The salt of the earth. It reminded me of my time growing up in the late 40s and 50. Hardly any stress, politeness. Many good things but I'm out west and too old to start over. Enjoy.

But once we have too many big city people, all that changes. We do not want to turn into a maritime To. Please!

If you can get your whole family to move with you that is the best idea. We have friends who are a young family and everyone came: parents, in-laws, brothers with their families, the grandma... then they are able to enjoy life together and the brothers were able to start a business together and they have growing families. They have it made and they love it. In NB it is definitely harder to find people to fix things, work for renos, find things you need to buy but if you moved with a whole family or a bit of a community you would love it even more. Since it is hard to find people to work there is a lot of opportunity here. We met a family that moved here from Alberta and they are making things happen from dance lessons to tree clearing. Their business for trees and cranes is fast and efficient and they have all the tools and they are really upping how things get done. It's awesome. If you are a large animal vet for farms - they are in high, high, high demand. Homesteading is taking off here because people from Ontario can afford to live in the country and be more self sufficient by raising cattle, chickens etc. If you can, bring a community, for sure.

Hi Jenny, we currently live in Hamilton and are planning on moving to the east coast in the next two years. We are starting to scout where we'd like to live in the Maritime provinces and so far NB and the Moncton area is at the top of our list. One of our main concerns is that we do not speak French. How much of a hindrance is this? We've been noticing that a lot of job postings are asking for the applicants to be bilingual.
@WendDesaulniers

Moncton is very French, most good jobs are had by French people, English can only find menial jobs the French dont want.. Most of the French here speak perfect English but the English mainly dont speak French hardly at all. No walk in clinics wither and no hope of finding a doctor, rents have doubled almost as high as Ontario rates..

I moved to NB from ON. Now I have a South Florida home and NB home. No debt and chasing the endless summer. Next is small class A RV by the sea. Hmmm come to think about it, everything is by the sea.

I spent a standard school year at Mt Allison in 1980 at age 20. I spent my first 50 years in the GTA. Now I live in small town Sechelt BC. I went back to Thornhill twice, to see if i wanted to return home and each time it was a hard no. I have been in BC for 14 years and even though Thornhill is my home, and the nostalgia pulls at my heart sometimes, I love where I live now.

Cheap house to buy lol and low mortgage in NB compared to Ontario high wages high rent and you can't even save your down payment for a house in the GTA AREA and the outskirts of the GTA is still crazy.

Yes! Being a Realtor is definitely a fabulous and rewarding job because of all the wonderful people you meet along the way and the families we get the honour of helping. But as a Realtor, you definitely have to love your job because it’s not easy working 80+ hours a week including weekends and evenings and many times with guilt of missed family time. Our average home price is about $350k. So in NB, we have to sell about 3-4 homes to make the equivalent of what one home sells for, in bigger cities like Toronto. It’s fabulous to be a realtor in NB, but it also comes with a LOT of work and sacrifice and I could not be more grateful for my clients and people that have supported me on this path 😊🙏
