Great idea, although, to be honest, our rig isn't too special, haha. Basically, it's 2010 prado 150, ironman Bull bar & snorkel, lightbar, and spots with a winch. 2-inch raise with A/T tires R17 rims. Dual battery system, uniden UHF radio, and Garman Overlander navigation.

I put an itechworld 120x under bonnet battery in the spot for the second. Hooked up a dc/dc charger. Ran a cable to the boot, to a utility unit, which has a volt meter, 12v socket, and anderson plug to run the second fridge. Then, put a couple of extra utility units in the middle passenger seats and front passengers, for usb and 12v sockets. I did get an auto electrician to check everything. I found the itech battery worked well, dust and waterproof, and has an overheat feature that turns the battery off if it gets too hot.

We generally check out the water ways first, and generally keep them out of deep and fast moving water. As for snakes we only seen about 4 snakes over the last 15 years. Generally well used campsites and waterholes are too noisey for snakes. Most are shy and try to keep away from people. Always look about first. Hope that helps.

Hi Dyan, thanks for watching our videos. Our thermal cooker comes from ALDI supermarket. Was on their special buys catalogue. It'd called Adventuridge, it has a 2L inner pot and a larger 5L inner pot. Depending how much you fill the larger pot, you can cook a stew or curry and rice at the same time. I hope that helps a bit.

@The 5 Wandering Wilsons Thank you so much for that. We're at the beginning of our living on the road forever journey. I've looked at thermal cooking (I have a thermomix) but I couldn't find anything hubby would allow weight wise that would continue cooking with no power. They are all so cumbersome. Would I be wrong in thinking I could use the pots as saucepans and replace some of what I'm currently using? I love the soft case and that it still works. So grateful. Thank you again. Dyan.

@@the5wanderingwilsons. Try one part of washed Basmati (long grain rice) and up to 1.5 parts of water with added stock and a drop of olive oil. Bring up to boil, then shut off the heat and put the lid on. Partly cook the rice to coincide with the end of cooking the beef casserole. Load both pots into the thermal cooker at the same time, close it up and zip up the insulated bag. It will be hot and ready in from 6 - 8 hours and the rice or polenta will still be perfectly cooked as no steam is lost to the outside. Beef obviously needs more pre-cooking time than chicken or mince dishes. I enjoyed watching your presentation especially the way you pre-prepped the beef and veg. Great video and thanks for presenting to us. I take it you are Australian... I'm a Queenslander.

Thanks for your comment. It looks close but the angle of the arm once bolted on misses it just. Did fine that tighting up the bottom bolt helped to hold it into place. We had a couple on basic recoveries so far with only some of the paint coming off but we don't do a lot of rock hopping etc. Thanks for watching the video, hope it helped.

Thank you for the Idea. I just ordered a shower awning to go on my custom built truck rack. I have a 270 awning on one side and the truck has a shell with a 20"x 5' swing-up door on each side. I was trying to figure out how to fabricate a swing out shower like you have. Watching your video gave me an idea to make the wring out arm about 10" longer than the awning needs, in hopes of creating enough clearance to open the side door when the shower is in the 90degree position. i might make it have slots for 3 poles that way I can make a rain cover for it that overhangs the poles. A stretch goal for my project is to make it so I can un-bolt the swing arm, and attach it to a 2nd mount that can be ratchet strapped to a tree for longer camping trips. Thank you I will check out some of your other stuff. Roger

I have the billy boil 3ltr thermal cooker but even that being the smallest is a fair bit for me on my own.. ok when its soup, but often in winter i have to ask neighbours to join me in my meal These pots are perfect for lazy cook like me...love that i can throw it together then forget it. pot luck tea saturday, i am doing a kiwi version of chicken biryani... see how that goes.
