Those poor Francis Brothers must have been choking on their own rage wherever they were gathered tuned in and waiting with baited breath for their moment in the sun. They must have just begun to dance and cheer when that fleeting glimpse of ecstasy was murdered by an oversight announced and irreversible. How wonderful to finally have a chance to set the record straight: assuming they survived the years of cruel relentless misery woe. Unlikely, but you never know. Fingers crossed.

Ate breakfast at a restaurant with my sister, brother in law and 2 nephews many years ago and there was an old vet sitting near us that talked very loudly about getting his "DISCHARGE". Over and over. I did not enjoy my breakfast.

Thank you for this video. I've gotten something of a hyperfixation on DnD history recently and I love being able to listen to this gem. Wild to think that this album predates me by 17 years! Been a game loved by many for a long time...

I was talking to my wife maybe 15 minutes ago when, for the first time in maybe 15 years I used the word "induce" in casual conversation. Five minutes later, I said "induce" again. She looked at me like she was about to ask if I was having a stroke, which I wasn't (knock on wood). And five minutes after *that,* I was showing her this incontrovertibly apt Kids in the Hall sketch. (Was this sketch really and truly incontrovertibly apt? I dunno -- but I *do* know one thing: She sure as shit didn't controvert it!) Anyhow, blah blah blah, etc., etc., and now here I am, X number of minutes after all that horseshit, writing this horseshit to you incontrovertibly estimable folk. The moral of the story: I hope my wife puts out tonight -- I'm randy as a billy goat on parole.

This commercial brings me back to my youth. I was 13-14 when this commercial aired in 2002-2003. I had no idea who the band was at the time but loved the song and feel of the commercial. 1-2 years later Modest Mouse blew up and I bought their album Good News. After a few months of non stop listening I went with my dad on one of our weekly trips to Fry’s Electronics and saw The Moon and Antartica and Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks. I bought The M & A and was super happy and surprised when I got to track 2 and Gravity Rides Everything started. Fond memories..

This sounds so Foetus. Does anyone know if Dave and Jim Thirwell ever made music together or at least hung out? I guess they were both in New York at the same time.

Funny you mention Foetus. Good call. Yeah, Thirlwell was a fan. He hand-picked all the bands on his '92 Mesomorph Enduros comp, which included Barkmarket's debut of Johnny Shiv. The bands toured Germany together, too, in the late summer of '96 along with 7 Year Bitch and Otis.

This is such an awesome find! 10 years ago I quickly threw together a videoclip for this song because I wanted more people to hear this awesome tune. Little did I know an OFFICIAL video was made! Well, mine has served it’s purpose for 8 years I guess :)

I’ve wondered the same. Maybe it was used for early live shows? In an August 1987 issue of New York magazine, Barkmarket is on the bill at Performance Space 122. I can imagine this video being projected on the wall or something like that. We’d likely need D. Sardy for the real answer though.

Also worth mentioning, a later version of this song can be found in the form of the "Untitled" track off Easy Listening.

@@MattJH well, thank you. I still go around saying "I eated dut" thanks to your cousin. Hope you've been to good to life. I have no idea where you dug this stuff up at, but what gems man! It's great to see and hear different stuff from these guys. I thought maybe I'd be able to figure out how to play some of their songs being able to see them play it.. but nope. No idea what tuning he's even using.

It's absolutely a ruined station now. WCFL FM was amazing, with great DJ's like Don Beno and fantastic music. It was heart breaking when they ruined the station by selling out to a religious broadcaster.
