I'll have to try and figure out where this is. We are in the Florence/Canon City area a lot. Looks awesome!

Thanks for the video. What time of year did you climb Elbert via the Black Cloud? We're planning on doing the Black Cloud Trail later this month and want to split it into two nights. Any tips? Several spots along the route in your video looked suitable for backcountry camping, and AllTrails has two marked spots at 11,000 and 11,600 feet.
@samrichardson26412 ай бұрын
@@archiechesler439 yes they’re some good spots along the way. I made this ascent on June 19th. This trail is very steep so I’d bring hiking poles.

Thank you! I was snow shoveling last night with an old timer who mentioned the Albuquerque low, and how it doesn’t snow in southern colorado like it use too. Something about the wet mountains reminds me of the mountains in Pennsylvania / Appalachia, and I hope to explore the range more next year.
@dapperdingo10 ай бұрын
@@samrichardson2641 That's coincidental! I moved here to Colorado from Pennsylvania in 1986. You will not be disappointed. I miss the 'Pocono Mountains' in Pa. most of all, much more so than I do areas like Philly, by far. As a matter of fact, I do not miss Philadelphia at all, although the Philly Cheese Steaks, the hoagies and pizza are outstanding, they were not enough to keep me from moving away from the 'hustle and bustle'. Being a truck driver for Waste Management back in those days, I found work with them in Colorado Springs, quit shortly thereafter, moved to Westcliffe and worked construction of log homes mostly, and owned a painting business for a while. I bought a portable band saw mill and built a nice cabin for myself in the 'Wets', near Bear Basin, where I now reside today..

Don't forget to check out 'Bishop's Castle', near San Isabel Lake, if you have not already. It's in the Wet Mountain range, not far from my place. There are a lot of KZbin videos on it.

In my opinion, the best skiers from Texas were born or have grown up in the RGV area.

My style of skiing is skiing on the bunny slopes, which I also call it “Tejano Style” or “Valluco Style” skiing because I come from the southernmost part of Texas.
