I am my husband’s caregiver. He’s quadriplegic. This is by far the most challenging part of our day, both physically and emotionally. Sometimes I get angry at our situation and other times I have to hide my tears. But I do it every morning because that’s how much I love him. We’ve been married for 46 years and I wouldn’t trade one minute.

Thank you for posting this video! I have ms, epilepsy, heart issues, etc but I’m able to still take care of myself. I told my husband that if and when the time comes that I can’t care for myself anymore I will go to a nursing home. It’s not fair on your spouses having to step up to that extreme. I love my husband so very much, and I want him to have a full life without the burden, and I know how absolutely exhausting and straining caregiving can be. It’s incredibly-or more like impossibly hard on a marriage and on the healthy spouse. Let alone with in the romance and intimacy area. It’s so rough watching and having to remember and be involved with your beloved becoming a giant-adult sized toddler. It might sound harsh-but I’m actually being serious and honest. I worked as a long term care nurse for 11 years and the spouses and loved ones of our residents couldn’t do it! The amount of guilt and shame they went through having to drop off their loved one was crippling for them-they were haunted by their guilt. When you love you’re spouse you don’t want them having the last memories of changing your diapers, wiping the poo off your bottom daily while in a hospital bed, and having to do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for you. THEY NEVER GET A BREAK. It’s such a harsh, brutal, sad, but honest reality. Don’t be selfish-let them go by insisting you go to a care home and allow them not to feel guilty and terrible over having and wanting to live still while your life is ceasing. Just my feelings.

When A Person is INJURED IN THE CENTER OF THEIR FACE, ITS THE EMOTIONAL CENTER THATS BEEN INJURED SO WHEN THE EMOTIONAL CENTER IS INJURED OUR EMOTIONS, OUR BRAIN, JUST TAKES OVER & OUR EMOTIONS JUST GO OUT OF SIGHT. A PERSON GETS SO VERY FRIGHTENED OF WHAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING ITS JUST VERY SCARRY HOW THE Brain just takes OVER & WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL, BECAUSE OUR DENDRITES, THE COMMUNICATORS FOR THE BRAIN HAVE BEEN. S E V E R I E D. SO COMMUNICATION HAS BEEN LOST FOR THE BRAIN 🧠 TO KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!
