Thx Sine Craft for the video, could you please tell us what adaptar box you where using to connect your two monoblocs to the tungsten? I'm interested in case I do get the Tungsten and I'm planning on pairing it with a power amp.

Version 2 recently came out but I can’t find any reviews on it is it that much better? I have version 1 still unopened and am conflicted as to whether I should sell it at a loss and upgrade it to version 2?

CABLE DEBATE, A Perspective: The debate over whether cables make a difference in audio systems is as flawed as debating the color of an object between someone who’s not colorblind and someone who is. Both see the same object, but their perception depends on the spectrum of light their eyes and brain process. Similarly, in audio, perception depends on the spectrum of sound an individual can hear and how their brain processes it. Just like light, where each person's vision varies, the audio spectrum is interpreted differently by every listener. Our brains act as signal processors, shaping how we perceive sound or color based on the input we receive. The challenge is finding a common ground to "normalize" these perceptions, but since everyone’s processing is unique, achieving this is nearly impossible. So, when comparing interconnects and speaker cables, remember: the impact is often subjective, shaped by the listener’s auditory spectrum and brain interpretation. What matters most is how your system sounds to you.

Over my 20+ years in the world of audio, I’ve consistently found that a balanced (XLR) connection and topology outperform a single-ended (RCA) setup, regardless of the specific cables used. This is why my system is fully balanced from source to amplifier, with both input and output connections designed to maintain that synergy throughout the chain. Note: Just because a piece of audio gear has both RCA and XLR input/output connections, it doesn't guarentee that the gear is truly a balanced design internally throughout. Be sure to confirm the internal circuit topology is a true balanced design. Synergy is key in any audio setup, but it’s highly dependent on every component in the chain. What works exceptionally well for a headphone system might not deliver the same results for a speaker system. Personally, I use high-end STAX earspeakers paired with a top-of-the-line STAX tube amplifier, alongside both highly resolving dynamic and electrostatic speakers. I also adjust my cable configurations depending on the type of music and the listening experience I’m aiming for with each system. I hope this insight helps you on your audio journey!

I’m a musician. I use headphones almost exclusively to listen to instrument/vocal audio directly from a mixing board. It’s curious to me that none of the audiophile cans are ever reviewed with a live source. Would love to play/hear an analog synth, keyboard, guitar, bass direct from a line level mixing board into an energizer/stax or amp/planars compared to my AKG Q701s.

I have a Mojo 2. It seems that it has enough power. I am not even at 50% with the volume and it very loud. Sinergy might be better with somethong else. I find that the Mojo 2 has good timbre and resolution, but could be more punchy, since the Arya SE is also not punchy. I add the bass shelf and it works for me. I tried Hidizs s9 pro (punchy, but a bit lean), Topping NX7 (perfect tonality and control, but kills the fine details). Hope this helps.

A fact practically no one (especially Klipsch themselves) wants to touch on, is that years ago Paul Klipsch himself taught us all that where there is movement there is distortion. Long story short, a vented woofer will have more excursion than a sealed cabinet. The sealed cabs of the LaScalas and Heresys of the past have always been a part of their signature sound. These new ported designs, as good as they are, will NOT sound the same. A few years after the Heresy 2 was introduced, a lot of people decided that they actually preferred the original Heresys for various reasons. I think that may happen again with the 4's. YMMV.

Everybody says 600Ω need lots of power. I don't think is correct. They need more voltage but less current which could mean more or less same power. What creates the illusion of the "lots of power" is the need to max volume knob up, which increases the voltage. The high resistance means the current have more difficulty to travel. I'm not expert in headphones but I'm sure with specialized amplifier (more voltage) the knob should not go that high.

I love my jumbo shrimp. It does have a distinct aural flavor tones specific to the brand. The only negative I have is they have mounted on boards vertically so the tubes project and at 90° parallel to the floor making it awkward to roll tubes as my hands are quite big as there is not a lot of real estate to work with First world problems Love my Manley labs gear❤❤❤❤❤

They are 599$ on the official Hifiman shop. I found a Black Friday offer in Spain for 525€ taxes included. For that prize they are now the Arya Steal. 😅 My preferences are not on bright headphones but these are really good in my opinion. I don't see them shouty at all. They are very neutral, a good bass. I am only slightly annoyed by small sibilance, but I think that it depends a lot on the recording, because the exact sounds are perfect depending on the album... Even when it has a small sibilance it's not aggressive at all

I own VC and its never aggressive or sharp, guess my tube amp drive them well. Atrium really soon join my VC and my tubes assure me that it must sounds amazing, not a single dynamic driver headphones I own sounds bad with it. Some people think that tubes are only to make gear sounds darker (fuller) thats not the case, serious tubes (not cheapest crap) are working in full spectrum of sound. High impedance cans on tubes gain energy at least in my case, thats sensation like those headphones "woke up" and hit you with everything they got but not with sharp edges, there is definition but not sharpness. Dont know if I say some bullcrap or not but I love good tube amps and high impedance headphones

You mentioned the Taboo.. is that still in the roster despite trying some major stuff like the Agartha? I've been trying to figure out where I want to take my next step from the Cayin HA-3A and the Taboo's high on the list but the wait time is nuts and they're tough to catch used.
@SineCraftAudio
@SineCraftAudio 2 ай бұрын
The Taboo is my first headphone tube amp true love. I don't have a subjective angle on it but I just can't let it go no matter how much great gear comes through. I think the EL84 is a somewhat under appreciated tube. The front end on the Taboo allows for a tone of tube rolling as well as the flexible rectifier tube. The Lucid Mode is also a ton of fun to play with. There are plenty of "better" amps but the Taboo is a special one. I will note that it can not drive everything. It is powerful and drives most but it has its limits.

I have these (99 Classic) and they are great. I'd say for those who can swing it, go with the 109 Pros. The 109 are just amazing for the cost. I do not listen to music via headphones too often, but enough to have made the upgrade. Also made an upgrade in cable, which helps, as long as the amplifier is good, there's a very noticeable difference. The 99 sounds great, but the 109 are capable of slight holography given the proper amplification, especially tube. Great detail and separation. Nice video! Can't really go wrong with the 99 if you like warm, present and forward sound. Thanks!

Awesome video. I'm thinking of getting the tube buffer from Modwright. Think it would add some to my system. For the ease of getting tubes in and out (rolling), I find 'tube savers,' or adapters, really help. You can get some that are made with porcelain/ceramic and they essentially raise the tube, making it easier to change. Another benefit is that it puts less strain on the board over time as you tube roll.

Thank you for the great review Sine Craft! Was looking for a direct comparison between the aeolus and aeteurs and couldnt find much but glad you made one. Glad that you find the aeolus better for your tastes since I assume it is a general upgrade to the hd650/hd6xx (warm, lush mids) and the aeteurs is an upgrade to the hd600s (more neutral). Based on your review and some others, looks like Im lucky that the aeolus is the one i should go for since i love the hd6xxs and is cheaper of the two too 😂
