I have more info on these forced air furnaces then I did 10 months ago. First you set the thermostat to the temperature you want. Next the thermostat sends a signal down the the control board. Thirdly the Draft Inducer switches on with a calming humming noise to pull that toxic air out the chimney. This unit is obviously an 80+ gas furnace so the air burns a bit hotter but the high efficiency gas furnaces is called a 90+ gas furnace. But anyways the air comes through the return vents and blows in into the blower and the blower pushes that air onto a heat exchanger. Then that air goes through your vents back to your rooms. The Hot surface ignitor lights the fire. In other words heat makes fire Hot Surface ignitor makes surface hot.

Takes me back to staying the night at grandma and grandpas house. I’d sleep on the comfy couch with a nice big blanket and the moment that big heater kicked on it was lights out. That start up noise will stay in my mind forever. Love it
