For anyone watching in recent times, the golden digital ground product was discontinued. But InkAid has a inkjet receptive coating that works just as well! InkAid clear gloss type II. I love this tutorial and have been using it for years!!

@@YoshiieMaeda NOTHING! I made a video of you want but use Inkaid Matte and it’ll be good. And if you can’t blank mtg cards (like me I can’t) then White Matte, 1 layer vertical one layer horizontal will make a good print!

Coming back to this 2 years after my previous comment. Which of the InkAIDS between gloss or matte would make for a more authentic feeling and looking card? Also I’ve noticed some ask about replacement stuff for the mediums, would you have any recommendations for that? @RevesArt

As far as I can tell, the video is BS. Nothing opaque was ever applied above the holo, so it would be impossible to block out the holo this way. The way the video cuts out in the editing and when the card is next shown is magically opaque is rather telling. Let's see an actual full video without the missing steps

I'm going to ask here again, the proxies do not require inner sleeves to be used, correct? While handling the card it seemed very nice and it's just the biggest issue for me Also I did not expect for so many materials to be used. Looks amazing!

Question What step can I skip if I printed on holographic inkjet paper instead on the actual card?

I make my custom cards by printing directly on, and you can skip the print medium step since it's obviously already printable. However, my experience tells me you won't get a result anything like shown at the end of the video. The guy never applies anything opaque to block out the holo, and instead the video cuts to show us a print that's somehow become magically opaque. Seems fishy. Getting an opaque layer between the holo and the print is one of the biggest challenges to crafters and is generally only possible with expensive UV printers, manufacturing, or a janky white toner setup with multiple print passes per card.
