Coming up on the 40th anniversary of this masterpiece and its still as terrifying, and terrifyingly relevant, today, as it was then.

I'll watch this movie every once in a while. Why, I have no idea as it just sucks the very soul right out of me. Should be required viewing for all the nations that seem to relish nuclear saber-rattling. The world has more than enough conventional weapons to do us all in, at least spare the rest of the planet that wants no part of this insanity that is still with us today.

IMO, the risk of the war ended somewhere between 1989 and 1991. I watched "The Day After" from 1983, and now KZbin keeps suggesting nuclear war movies made in the 80s. It was clearly a big concern.
